Not sure about any of this, but one of the problems, at least in the UK, has been that transgender female prisoners have attacked weaker female prisoners:

Perhaps this is not as common with weaker transgender male prisoners in male prisons, though they may victims, along with other male prisoners, of attacks, which are common in the for-profit prisons in the US.

The term "transgender female prisoners" would be female inmates who identify as men.

I am using the Daily Mail reference - which is 'transgender female' that "transitioned" from male to "female". Eg:

It follows cases of transgender female prisoners sexually assaulting fellow inmates. In 2018, Karen White - who was born a man but was placed in women's prison HMP New Hall after telling authorities of his identification as a woman - sexually assaulted two female inmates

    Might as well house the men and women together at this point.

    Seems wrong to deprive a person of intimate companionship for years, if not decades. The kind of thing that just fosters "prison gays." Not that jail should be a fun filled hedonistic orgy, but monthly conjugal visits seem reasonable. It would also be another way to keep prisoners in line. Who is going to act out if it means they can't fuck.

    That makes me feel bad about Gizmo, although he did lose a lb, and I asked the vet, said he wasn't fat.

    I actually have a different plan for prisoner's food. It's one of the few places that we can have a totally controlled study of diet. I think voluntary food studies should be conducted. It would mean opting out of the cantina but generally better food overall.

    And perhaps the conjugal visits could be a voluntary eugenics experiment.

    I know, probably offend some people I want to give such good treatment to criminals, and others that I want to experiment on prisoners. But I think it benefits everyone over all.

    So if I (male) can screw a woman while free then I commit a crime tell the judge I'm transgender and be sent to a woman's prison where the woman has no choice but to screw the only dick in the prison. Here I thought these people were menially ill. Hell I should join some gyms and say I'm a transgender so I can shower with woman all day.

    It's a "problem" in Scotland now: prisoners declare themselves female (male) and get housed with the female (female) prisoners during their term of imprisonment, then they declare they are no longer female (male) but are back to being male (male) after they get out of prison.

    I'm kinda hard-pressed to figure out why any man wouldn't declare himself to be trans in prison.

    In the UK 10% of the traveller community in prison now identify as trans.

    When caged against your will in poor conditions, with purposely limited supplies and resources, and in company of the most violent and murderous criminals of the state....can one ever really deem any sex as purely consensual?

    It doesn't matter what sex, gender, or combination of those, the two inmates are; all sexual contact is coerced to an extent by situational duress, need of limited resources, and social power dynamics through fear based submission/dominance.

    There is a huge gap in the amount of outside support inmates receive, creating a dynamic of desperation and a market for limited resources that preys on it. Many times, this isn't just a large gap in ability is rise above cruel living standards, but the ability to maintain a consistent minimum supply of toiletries and food without risking danger, as well as access to outside advocates which can help you lobby for proper health care and other grievances.

    An appropriate amount of food and toiletries may be provided for each inmate, but in a limited resource environment, people steal extra supplies, not caring that the last person in line finds there are none left. Starve or fight the inmate who you saw grab two trays? This isn't a decisions those who have family sending money must make, as they can purchase a supply of extra food. Purchasing this safety and security with your body, might be the choice those without money sent in must take.

    No sexual contact between inmates of any kind can fully be considered consensual.

    The prison made a big deal about declaring that the sexual encounters were consensual, due to their fear of liability. My relevant suggestion, was that it can never be consensual in such a situation.

    The prison should be held responsible for this and leadership should be fired. Their policy decisions were obviously reckless and dangerous. They have a duty of liability.
