Tell me about these horrible cases where people were prosecuted for running over some yahoo blocking the freeway on your way to work.

More to the point, the law does not say that.

Oh well, as long as the Republicans feel good. Modern Conservatism is all about feelings, not facts.

I do not see the part where the driver was attacked before attacking the other fellow.

He wasn't. That's why this law is useful, so people like that won't be prosecuted in the future. I have no sympathy for protesters who want to cause me to be stuck in traffic for their protest. I do not want them to benefit at my expense.

So someone walks in the road you ought to be able to run him down? You have bold new ways of thinking!

No, not someone who "walks in the road." These are protesters holding up traffic on purpose as part of their protest. If they aren't protected any longer they won't do it. They can protest without blocking traffic.

So if they block traffic vigilante justice is needed.

Won't be vigilante justice when it's legal. That's just justice.

No, actually. Punishing someone for violating the law outside of the courts is vigilantism. Do you support the idea of individual citizens issuing traffic tickets too? You are so very edgy.

I hate traffic and I have no desire whatsoever to enable protesters -- or anyone else -- to weaponize it. That's not edgy, it's common sense.

Do you drive in the US? Because I gotta wonder if it's not easy for you to judge something that doesn't affect you. I have a hard time imaging anyone wants protesters holding up traffic if that's traffic they might have to sit in.
