Sounds like great legislation. When you are being attacked by a mob surrounding your vehicle, the correct action is to run over them and get the fuck out of there. They will murder you without a second thought. Do not allow yourself to feel pity for them, as they do not deserve any.

So such a law was needed why? Are mobs of cowpokes wandering the wide open spaces Tejas nel Norte? Have there been miscarriage's of justice where schoolmarms have been convicted by juries for simply trying to save themselves?

Mostly the law is needed so you don't get prosecuted running over some yahoo blocking the freeway on your way to work. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. I gots places to be.

Tell me about these horrible cases where people were prosecuted for running over some yahoo blocking the freeway on your way to work.

More to the point, the law does not say that.

Oh well, as long as the Republicans feel good. Modern Conservatism is all about feelings, not facts.

I do not see the part where the driver was attacked before attacking the other fellow.

He wasn't. That's why this law is useful, so people like that won't be prosecuted in the future. I have no sympathy for protesters who want to cause me to be stuck in traffic for their protest. I do not want them to benefit at my expense.

So someone walks in the road you ought to be able to run him down? You have bold new ways of thinking!

No, not someone who "walks in the road." These are protesters holding up traffic on purpose as part of their protest. If they aren't protected any longer they won't do it. They can protest without blocking traffic.

So if they block traffic vigilante justice is needed.

Old-Fashioned American Values.

The Republican-majority Oklahoma state House passed a bill on Wednesday that would grant immunity to drivers who “unintentionally” run over protesters.

In an early morning vote along party lines, with 79 votes in favor and 18 against, state lawmakers approved legislation that would remove criminal or civil liability for any driver who “unintentionally” injures or kills someone while “fleeing from a riot,” as long as they have a “reasonable belief” that fleeing would protect themselves from harm.

The bill would also allow protesters to be charged with a misdemeanor if they “unlawfully obstruct” traffic, punishable by up to a year in jail and $5,000 in fines.

The legislation follows widespread protests in Oklahoma and across the country last summer against racist police violence. Black Lives Matter protesters have repeatedly been targeted by vehicle assaults.

At one such protest in Tulsa, a truck drove through Black Lives Matter protesters on a highway. Several people were seriously injured, according to The Oklahoman, and the county district attorney did not charge the driver.

Democratic state Rep. Monroe Nichols, who is Black, told his fellow lawmakers that he doesn’t want to have to tell his 12-year-old son that the Oklahoma House “made it so that folks who may advocate for people who look like him can be run over with immunity.”

The bill now heads over to the Republican-majority state Senate.

An article from seven or so months ago claimed that people have driven into protestors over 100 times. Maybe Oklahoma needs some sort of bag limit.
