They're acting like it's a surprise that after issuing nationwide shutdowns/shelter in place this many people would file for unemployment. Shock and awe garbage propaganda.

Oh, you seem to be missing the point. I thought most everyone's eye would have been drawn to the striking chart that dominates the front page.

"Shock and awe" seems to be an odd phrase to use. Could you explain how it applies in this situation?

I'm confused...the chart shows 3-plus million unemployment claims. My thought was they're trying to further keep people destabilized and in shock by highlighting this mass unemployment as if it was unexpected in this circumstance. Please tell me what you mean, I genuinely don't know what I'm missing.

You seemed to be going on about political stuff. I thought the graphics were stunning and data was beautifully presented.

"Shock and awe" is sort of a fancy way of saying "overwhelm the other guy's decision cycle." The idea is to use so much force in so many places that the Bad Guys's ability to understand what is going on is degraded.

Perhaps we are just seeing different things in the same illustration. Isn't that interesting?

I guess I'm so cynical at this point that I see the usual abuse of trying to frighten and blame the little guy, taking the focus off where the majority of the financial support/bailouts in this crisis is really going.
