I really liked the Mars Volta after, and Bosnian Rainbows

Same. I wanted to like Sparta because Jim Ward seemed to bring so much to At the drive-in, but I couldn’t get into them the same way.

At The Drive in came back in like 2016 but without Jim Ward, I'm like he sings backup on some songs and has a distinctive voice, so how can you have At the Drive In without him? I think though that Omar is a better song writer so Sparta wasn't as good without him.

Totally, I love him but it seems like Jim Ward wanted to play the music while Omar and Cedric would rather perform the music, like an art installation exhibit A

The Mars Volta doesn’t do this ^

They almost immediately started playing better. I speculate it’s more because of art ego that they got rid of Jim.

I kind of like the artsy progressive rock thing, and how they'd have concept albums. I do agree At The Drive In was better as they kept it simpler but yeah in that band it wouldn't be the same without the lead guitarist and lead singer of course, and that's basically what Sparta was. A good band just not as game changing, IMO. Cedric has a huge ego yes, and he basically broke up with Omar over it too. And I think drugs played a part too, not the first time it led to downfall of a great band.

All true. I liked the rock band as art thing for awhile but it quickly lost its charm to me.
