Intelligence is quantifiable. Besides the IQ system many other alternatives exist. Read a couple of PhD theses on the subject and we can talk.

Intelligence is not quantifiable. Creating a statistic called "intelligence" and trying to apply it to someone's ability to solve any specific problem is like creating a statistic called "athleticism" and trying to apply it to someone's ability to shine on the pommel horse.

Read this and next time listen to me the first time: https://www.vetta.org/documents/Machine_Super_Intelligence.pdf.

I'm not going to sit down and read 184 pages because you insisted I do so; and also, I'd bet money you haven't read this either.

The concept of machine learning does not validate that idea that every human being has a statistic called INT and that INT can predict how well they'll perform at any given task.

I have read it twice and I read it when it came out as well as the subsequent research in the field. I find it annoying that I need to explain that you are a complete idiot in this field. In biotech you might not be ignorant, great. Here, you are.

"I read all 184 pages twice," said binaryblob, aggressively lying to me.

Humans are very similar to computers: hardware is your genetic code, software is your environment. If your ‘hardware’ is Japanese, Korean, Chinese, or Northern European (esp northernmost Italy), then you are set. If your hardware is from sub Saharan Africa originally, you’ve got a POS from 1991 and dial up.

That used to be a popular way of looking at the world, yeah.

Every Japanese person knows that there are Japanese people who are complete and utter dumbasses. Every Northern European high school has kids who couldn't pass a standardized test to save their lives.

Taking averages of a demograpic and then trying to apply those demographics out to every individual is just a ridiculously dumb thing to do. It would mean that I'm 5'9", 38 years old, and Christian. Weird how nobody actually informed me of those things and how they appear to be totally wrong.

Using the mean value as a representative of a set is normal. We do it all the time: what do houses go for in my neighborhood? What’s the average rate of return on the SP 500? Having a mean of 16.1 compared to a mean of 24.5 (blacks and Asians, respectively) on the ACT says a lot about those groups. If there’s no need for storing food for the winter, no need to sew warm clothing, plant life is abundant all around…and that happens over 50,000 years or so…then that population didn’t have to select for intelligence. That’s why some groups are smarter than the rest.

Dalits or Brahmins, a natural as a society can be.

I'm rarely concerned about "normal." Only about what's useful.

If the mean value for houses in my neighborhood is $500K... well, that gives me virtually no information about what I can expect if I sell mine. Because it's not a "mean" house. It's a single, actual house. It's not like I can build a shack in a rich person's backyard and declare I'm living in a million dollar house because that's what houses go for in this neighborhood.

Having a mean of 16.1 compared to a mean of 24.5 (blacks and Asians, respectively) on the ACT says a lot about those groups.

I got a 34 on the ACT. You know why? Because I was an bullied autistic loser with helicopter parents and no friends. And that's what it says about me. Not that I'm a genetically superior specimen. Not that I know how to fix a broken down car. Not that I can even remember anyone's name at a dinner party. It means I got intensive training in... taking tests. And what a fucking skill that's turned out to be, in a world where no one gives you any written tests.
