I might try one of those in a few years but while I'm still spry will stick to my trusty Cannondale. One reason is that a lot of housewives use those e-bikes, sometimes with a baby seat in the front and back. I've seen photos of Arnold the Terminator riding one in LA though.

I don't know what e-bike you're talking about but there's a HUUUUUUGE variety of electric bicycles and modifications. In fact there would be no shortage of modifications for your Cannondale.
You can improve this search to not be about Cannondale e-bikes, but more specific to your bike: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Cannondale+electric+bike+modifications
Meanwhile here are generic bike modifications adding various electric components: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=modify+bike+to+electric
As you see there's no end to the variety of sizes, propulsions, battery forms, switches, gadgets, and other modular systems. I customized a couple in Vancouver 11 years ago. It wouldn't have been done well or quickly without my uncle's electric knowledge, so either start strong or don't get customize crazy on your first try.
I would love to have one of those again.

All right, I will look at the links but I feel the same about electric bikes as Mae West felt about marriage: Marriage is a wonderful institution but I'm not ready for an institution yet. Thanks.

My point is, you can keep your bike and just add a kit to it, from small to major. When you're ready. No deep commitment other than the expense and installation time.
