This site is getting as dumb as voat. It would work if people fucking wore masks and socially distanced FOR TWO FUCKING WEEKS!!

HURR DURR, WE GOTTA PLAY SPORTS, RIOT, PROTEST AND PARTY...

I immigrated here a few decades ago. This was the first thing I noticed about Americans, how stubborn and difficult they are. ABOUT EVERYTHING. I mean, you're proud of it, but that's a terrible sort of virtue only third world idiots have. And even they're not as bad.

Everything was explained to people a million times, and yet they refuse to look at the numbers in other countries and claim, "MASKS DON'T WORK, LOCKDOWNS DON'T WORK!" after months of refusing to follow the mandates for any period of time.

Then you have cops and even some GOVERNORS showing their ignorance by refusing to enforce the regulations. Unbelievable. Enjoy your 996 schedules when the Chinese take over...

I'm not personally against masks, even if they don't work as some claim there is value to the peace of mind doing something, anything provides. I have a bad knee that causes a lot of pain and I do a lot of shit for it that isn't effective, but it's much better to try something and fail than to sit there and take it. So I'd be for masks either way. I get it.

But in my area we all wear masks, it hasn't made covid go away and we've been doing it since March. That alone is not fixing it. We did the masks, we did the lockdowns, we're looking at another lockdown. I'll let other people argue whether or not that's a good idea, but it's obvious to see it's not the Alpha and Omega of covid. That alone won't end it.

"we have to do something" is a terrible frame of mind. Decisions have consequences, and the data shows lockdowns have consequences. Drug overdoses are way up. Suicides are way up. Domestic violence is way up. Death by starvation worldwide is way up. Those are a direct effect of the decision to lock down.

"I have to do something about this knee pain! I know, I'll smoke crack! I feel so much better knowing I'm doing something, and it does help with the pain!"

I'm sad seeing the childlike view of the left. "We have to destroy everything to deal with the latest thing I'm freaking out about!"

6 months before covid we had the same people arguing for the same measures to deal with global climate change. They don't care about the ultimate consequences of dealing with their cause of the day, thinking of all that is too much work.
