Fauci said at first that masks don't reduce the spread, and everyone shamed people for questioning that narrative. Relatively recently, Fauci admitted that he was lying because there weren't enough masks.
Frankly, he should be fired on the spot for that. His job should be telling the truth, not lying then smugly explaining that his lie was for the greater good.
Now that there are masks, they are acting the exact same except in the polar opposite direction.

I'd argue don't get too hung up on the anime thing. The Nu-Left detests the values those shows teach, of working hard and sticking to your guns to achieve your dreams instead of expecting them to be handed to you. The reason that trans women might gravitate towards them is simple: The west sees any positive depiction of sexy women as evil, so anyone looking for a female form to look up to must leave the country for it.

I agree with you, except that there's something else that nobody is thinking about: rising inflation will necessarily require higher interest rates. Investors don't tend to just give away money, they are lending their money with the expectation that they make some money back.
There are people who have absolutely no business owning a million-dollar house who have a million-dollar house because you can get a mortgage for less than 2% right now. The historical average 4 mortgage has been kind of messed up in the past 20 years because of all of the attempts to keep the real estate bubble going, but generally speaking the average over the past hundred fifty years has been something like 8%. for an overwhelming majority of homeowners, if mortgage rates reach 8%, those people's lives are over. in some areas you can walk away from the mortgage and just hand the keys back to the bank, but in a lot of places that's not actually an option. In a lot of places if you can't afford to pay your mortgage, you still owe your mortgage.
the other thing that will come out of such a thing will be government bonds will rise. This is happened within most of our lifetimes. If you ask a baby boomer, around the same time that their mortgage was 20%, you can invest your money in the government bonds and be making 30%. It was absolutely insane. A lot of people lost everything, and a lot of other people made their Fortune just saving money. The downside to high government Bond rates is the money to pay for the privilege of borrowing money rises. I'm not talking about the amount of money to pay back government debt, I'm talking about him the amount of money to hold government debt. In 2008ish, when Central Bank rates were actually very low, the amount of maintenance on 8 billion dollars of debt was about 400 billion dollars. if you scale that up to the current debt, you're looking at spending more money just maintaining the debt then you pay for most things in the government. You would be representing something like 80% of personal income taxes collected, something like five times the corporate income tax collected, more than the entire withholding tax, twice what the US spends every year on the military, an absolutely massive amount of money. That money doesn't go to do anyting, it's completely non-productive money. It will have to be collected as taxes, but it will go directly to Banks and they will be absolutely no services provided by the government for that money. The likelihood is that taxes at all levels of government will go up massively.
Venezuela's currency has been in free fall for years. The Venezuela 10Y Government Bond has an estimated 46.582% yield, and a near 100% likelihood of default. The inflation over the past few years has seen the buying power of a bolivar drop hundreds of thousands of times.
It's hell. People are mining bitcoin hoping to get enough sustainable currency to buy food.
Imagine at the same time that the amount of spending that your daughter will do drops, the number of dollars that you're getting are also dropping because taxes are going up at a meteoric rate.
I called back in March when I first heard about everything they were doing for the coronavirus, stagflation is coming. People talk about the baby boomers and how easy they had it because their $30,000 houses became half million dollar homes, but we're about to find out that it was unimaginably difficult.
the socialists and ubi proponents have gotten to live their dream for the last 3 months, I think very soon we will be seeing the other side of the Utopia, when you run out of other people's money to spend.

We all have rights. A badly made comic. by BigFatRetard in politics
[–]BigFatRetard[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun - 3 days ago* (0 children)
I think we can completely agree on this point.
I agree that it is a false dichotomy: I want the same thing in both cases, for police who do wrong to face consequences for their actions, and for rioters who do wrong to face consequences for their actions.
My badly made comic was in response to another one asking why 2a folks didn't come out and shoot cops when rioters were getting arrested, link is in the comments here. The point isn't that we should be arresting all protesters, it's that when rioters are committing crimes, getting arrested isn't a violation of rights, it's the protection of rights.
The political establishment refusing to protect those rights is itself an injustice, and I'd love to see qualified immunity go away so the victims of these crimes can directly sue them for their intentional dereliction of duty for solely political purposes.
In my city there were peaceful protests, and while I didn't agree with everything they said I support their right to say it. I believe the police were there to make sure everything went well but there wasn't any sort of problem whatsoever with either group. Hard to imagine that it was months ago.
Lately I've been finding that discussing this sort of stuff and fitting my different thoughts together on paper has helped me understand where I'm coming from, and our discussion here has helped me realize a lot about myself.

that's true, but given the heritability of intelligence from generation to generation, I'd argue that the genetics of a brother and a sister or two brothers or two sisters is going to be much more similar than that of a white person and a completely unrelated black person, so assuming all success is genetic determinism doesn't seem to bear out. Even among people who are based on the same two parents you have huge differences.
The other thing is that I do believe that choice strongly factors into success, going back to the part I said where intelligence isn't the only factor in success. I look at my own reasonably successful life, and 2-3 choices would have a substantial impact on my level of success. Knock up a girl at 13, it all goes away. Give up on school and become a WoW addict, it all goes away. Get deep into cocaine, it all goes away. Those are choices we each need to make and while genetics may help, I don't think it's fully deterministic.

Given a choice between imperfect police whose job is to protect my rights and an imperfect mob that intends to violate them, of course I'll back the cops.
It's the inverse of the gambit the nu left is playing: If one problem is a papercut and another problem is a gaping chest wound, of course I'm going to deal with the gaping chest wound first.
And while we're on the topic, there is no racism problem in terms of who gets shot by police. The number of shootings of black men is directly proportional to the number of arrests of black men for violent crime. The reason there are so many shootings is that there's so many arrests for violent crimes. The fact that black people commit more violent crimes and therefore have more consequences for committing violent crimes isn't something the police can fix. To ignore people committing crimes because of their skin color is racism.
The worst part is, the cops fuck up hard without making shit up. There are so many cases, and they're not even remotely close. The cops who did a no knock plainclothes arrest and didn't announce that they were cops and then they got shot and tried to arrest the guy? That's a structurally fucked situation and should never ever have been allowed. The guy who was shot to death while sleeping during a no-knock raid? Again, that's totally messed up and every officer involved should be rotting in a jail cell. No question. There are so many cops who basically get free sex from prostitutes abusing their position. Those cops should be in jail forever. That's all completely fucked.
But instead we get all this crap... Did you know that BLM is officially opposed to Israel? What does that have to do with anything? Did you know that BLM is officially opposed to a nuclear family? What? You know, a black man I respect a lot suggests that the problem in the black community is the fact that the government has been trying to destroy the black nuclear family, and points to statistics showing that people who grow up without fathers are much more likely to commit crime period, and the data bears that out. 70% of youths in prison come from fatherless homes. 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes - 14 times the average. 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes - 9 times the average. If you care about black lives, why would you be trying to create this? If you don't want black people to be killed by cops, then it should be obvious that you want a nuclear family, but that doesn't match with their political ideology so forget that!
Tired of it. Tired of Fortune 500 companies all bending over backwards to kiss the ass of the rioters. Tired of the press apologizing for the rioters. Tired of the Internet nu-leftists lying for the rioters. Tired of politicians acting like the rioters are great folks (until they show up at their homes). Every one of these groups is looking out for themselves and all this helps them out. None of it helps the folks living in the affected communities. The powerful voices just don't care. They want to amplify only out of self-serving interests.

Most everyone I know agreed with that on Day 1. It was sickening. George Floyd died, and even after being informed he was dead, Chauvin decided he needed to lean on Floyd's neck for another few minutes just to make a point or something.
That being said, after watching cities burn and people die for 2 months, I fully support the police. It seems to me that current leftists only care to empathize when it happens to them, but I see these places and imagine my city, which I love, and I imagine watching the things I love about my city burned to ash and know they were never coming back, or I imagine hearing them from my home and hoping they don't turn against my family, or I imagine that sinking feeling of dread every time I have to go to work, or worse when a family member has to go to work.
There's a little drive-in ice cream place around the corner from me. Been there for decades. Every year the high school kids go to work there during the summer. They make fresh ice cream from locally sourced cream. If it were destroyed by a riot, the owners would just shut it down. It'd be replaced by...what? Probably a payday loan place, given that they seem to breed like cockroaches.
I know a trans woman in minneapolis who worked at the mcdonalds that they torched, and she had stories similar to mine about that mcdonalds. It was a place the local kids were able to go to work, and the older black workers were able to teach the younger black workers how to hold a job, and it was a net positive. They don't build mcdonalds buildings like that anymore, so once it went up in flames, it's gone forever. Maybe they'll rebuild, but maybe they decide it isn't worth it. Her story, her anguish, the stress you could hear in her voice, it broke my heart because I know I'd sound the same in her situation.
"Oh, we're protesting!" -- what are you protesting? The city council agrees with you, the mayor agrees with you, the governor agrees with you, both political parties agree with you, and in fact a black Republican of all people introduced a bill that would have substantially changed the way police work nation-wide (it got voted down, obviously)
I swear, it's like training a dog. You take away their job and they get squirrely and destroying things.

In response to this comic: https://twitter.com/BreadPanes/status/1289258421691101185?s=20
Under the libertarian ideology, the main purpose of a police force would be protecting people's fundamental rights. The rioters have engage in such a mass violation of people's rights and gotten away with it for months, it's absurd. The police finally stepping in to protect the majority's rights from a minority in the form of a violent mob is exactly what the police are supposed to be doing.
In an interview with Ron Paul, Jon Stewart pointed out that the government isn't the only force that can violate your rights, and he was unfortunately right. We're seeing that right now.

NYPD Chief Who Knelt With Protesters In June Gets Injured In Clash With Protesters by scrubking in politics
I think we need to be careful not to forget, like a lot of things there's a kernel of truth inside the giant ball of popcorn that is the bullshit of the riots.
People who interact with the state shouldn't end up dead, but every year about 1,000 Americans do end up dead. Some of the stories of those deaths are absolutely reprehensible, such as the individual who was shot to death while asleep in their bed during an incorrect no-knock raid.
It's important to remember that we are on the right side of justice, and they're a mob. That means that they are free to murder babies and innocent children and they feel justified because they are monsters, where we might shoot an armed and immediately aggro individual and question whether we were justified.
In this light, the Chief isn't wrong, he's just proving that he cares about justice, and the mob has proved time and time again that they don't.

Every bad dog we keep alive is a good dog we have to put down. Sad but true.
Women need to look beautiful because physical symmetry and other elements of beauty indicate physical health. Even as late as 100 years ago, childbirth was an incredibly dangerous thing for women. It often resulted in death of the woman, or the child, or both. Therefore, choosing the most ideal individual to have a child with has an evolutionary advantage because it ensures that the child will survive to adulthood and pass on their genes.

No, I'm just me, the one and only big fat retard.
I've got a job and a life, no time to go around running legions of alts talking to one another.
There are two ways to meet women: cold calling or through your social circle. The former is what you do if you're really charismatic or really physically attractive, the latter is probably a more sustainable way to meet people because they get a chance to hear your story without the "buy now" pressure of a cold call.
To be honest, there are situations where men should be speaking up. Not because of some men vs. women dichotomy (I think it's entirely consistent to be a feminist and an MRA since both seek a just society for each sex), but because sometimes guys get a raw deal.
Not all men are good people, and not all women are good people. Not all men are good providers or leaders or protectors. Not all women are bad providers or leaders or protectors. Not all men are bad parents, not all women are good parents. As long as the systems make broad assumptions about people based on sex instead of looking at the individual, that's something worth fighting against.
Now on the other hand, something I've been seeing more of lately is something of the opposite, where we take people's individuality away to try to force people into roles they don't want. If a man wants to be a provider and protector, more power to him. If a woman wants to be a nurturer, so be it. Just as it shouldn't be just to assume they do want to assume these roles, it's just as wrong to assume they don't, or that there's something wrong or evil about doing so.

I think that at this point a lot of people are changing their viewpoints not because objective reality has changed, but because it feels like cognitive dissonance to simultaneously believe that George Floyd was murdered and should not have died and a police system that allowed that and possibly let Chauvin walk needs to be modified, and that the resulting death and destruction is beyond reprehensible and is inexcusable and the police need to step in and start using real force to protect the majority's rights from violent mobs if need be.

If you weren't one of her victims, I bet she was a blast to hang out with. He'll, maybe if you were one of her victims she was a blast to hang out with when things weren't terrible.
It's a dirty little secret of successful serial abusers: they aren't caricatures of dog kicking villainy. In the real world, successful serial abusers have positive attributes they use to lure their victims and also to keep them in their cage.
Someone I care about was in an abusive relationship and I also knew he person who came afterwards. The individual had surface charm and brought some positive things to the table, including a circle of friends and promises of good times. Along the way he let his circle of friends seep in while distancing the target from their other friends. Quickly he let his controlling behaviors seep into the relationship, and while it is easy to say from a distance that they should have left, he implicitly or explicitly made threats. "If you leave you will lose these friends. If you leave you won't be invited to these good times." Afterwards when the person I care about did leave, he started to make those threats manifest by trying to convince his circle of friends to stop spending time with them and to force them to stop inviting them to things.
Hitler and Stalin and Mao didn't rise to power because they were monsters, they rose to power because they could convince others to follow them. It's then that the monster comes out.
Finally, crime statistics are very clear around the world who tends to abuse people: it's family, intimate partners, friends, and acquaintances. The people closest to us are the most likely to be terrible to us. The idea of the complete stranger coming in and being monstrous is largely a myth we want to believe. Point is, we need to stop imagining that the people who can hurt us most are the other, and recognise that those who can hurt us most are familiar, people we love, people we like. The more we like them or love them, the more they can hurt us without us turning away.

It was as early as 2013-2014 that I started realizing something didn't smell right on Reddit. Maybe earlier. I started to erase my account routinely because it seemed that if you were a doxxing lynch mob on the left Reddit was ok with allowing that. Around 2015 i moved to voat until I realized I wasn't actually a Nazi. I've tried to head back a couple times but it's just an echo chamber now, well constructed but unpopular arguments are downvoted to oblivion. It isn't the place I enjoyed anymore.
My opinions can be changed, but it needs to be through vigorous debate and intellectual honesty, not by stepping on my throat until I relent.

Lying eventually has consequences. The media is doing free advertising for actual racism by not telling the truth, and Democratic politicians giving a free pass to certain people but not others is driving people into the Republicans waiting arms.

I would agree with you, except that not one of these companies succeeded because they were the absolute best. The government sponsored the basic technologies, governments around the world paid ungodly amounts of money to pick winners, the government gives massive subsidies and sweetheart deals, and beyond that governments grant ridiculous monopolies in a number of ways.
Even something like cda 230 or the DMCA -- companies not specifically targeted by these laws would give their left nut for the sort of total immunity they provide. Could you imagine car companies with total immunity from major types of litigation? Manufacturing? Restaurants? Medicine?
So I see it as "live by the sword, die by the sword". You get these huge benefits, you have to serve everyone. If you want to start sticking your fingers in and abusing those ridiculous benefits, you go back to being a normal company and you can make a go of it like any other company.

It's meant to erode the idea of "us", because "we" can fight the power, but only if we realize we are a we.
Privilege is a thing. It exists, provably so. The problem is that the left wants to claim only one group has a monopoly on it, when in fact privilege flies all over the place. Every one is different, not necessarily equal or fairly doled out, but existing. There is male privilege and female privilege. Black privilege, white privilege, Chinese privilege and Japanese privilege and Indian privilege. There's rich privilege and poor privilege.
The problem is always when someone claims the concept is monopolized by a certain group. To do so is always bigotry, no matter how socially acceptable.
It's ironic, reading that comic.
Jon Stewart in one of his interviews with Ron Paul pointed out that government isn't the only one who can abridge your rights, I think he was referring to corporations at that time.
So a defense of left wing cancel culture opposes one of the most respected left wing media critics. If we're being honest, sucking up to corporations to induce censorship is anathema to the left wing values I grew up with.

That to me is the correct view of the world. Of course splitting people up by race is inherently racist. Being politically popular doesn't make racism less so. Ask the Jews in 1935. Or the interned Japanese in 1945. Or blacks in 1955.

Cop Will Do Less Than 2 Years for On-Duty Sex Assault of 16 Women, Won't Register as Sex Offender by Drewski in PoliceMisconduct
It's a shame that the racists needed to push their ideology instead of having a real conversation about how bullshit this is no matter who it happens to.
In my world, we should double sentences for police because they ought to know better. Every slap on the wrist is an abomination.
I also think that no matter who, there needs to be a criminal action specifically for using the government to advance your crime. If that's murder by swatting, kidnapping and assault by false rape claim, or being a cop using your power to assault women, that's the same as using all the guns at once on someone, unlimited force.
