"Deliberate ignorance" plays a much larger role in modern culture than I would've ever suspected when I was younger. Some people don't want to hear the truth about some things, because it means then they might have to think about it, which then means they might have to change their worldview and then adjust their patterns of behavior.

Some people are so addicted to their comfortable worn-in patterns of existing that the idea of trying something else scares them so much that they'll literally knowingly lie to themselves with thought-terminating cliches and known propaganda, just to keep the words from entering their conscious mind.

They're scared it might awaken something in them that might put them in conflict with the social hierarchy they've spent their lives trying to climb. Because they know, deep down, that "playing the game" is all a bunch of bullshit and a lot of it isn't morally right.

But if they never consider that possibility in the first place, then they're not a bad guy. Because then they're just acting out of ignorance rather than malice, which society deems more acceptable. So they just disallow themselves from consciously realizing anything that might make them the bad guy.

Ignorance is bliss, right?

It's interesting for me to think with hindsight about moments of cognitive dissonance where I saw a glimpse of truth and semi-consciously buried it instead of confronting it. I am an extremely curious person, and I'm generally unafraid to consider ideas which are 'out there', taboo, etc.

So it's surprising to me to have observed myself doing this, and it's kind of scary to extrapolate to the majority of the population and consider what kind of work lays ahead of me if I really want to affect some kind of ideological change within my lifetime.

Also interesting is this:

You're told 20, 200, or 2000 times about something that is "standard" by any mainstream measure (ie. Holocaust, vaccines, climate change, 9/11, lone shooter events, COVID, etc).

Then you hear about something contrary that may even make more sense, but people are fallible, so you have to doubt it because you've already heard it solidly a zillion times. Further all the "authoritative" sites repeat the same thing, so researching deeper seems folly.

One would think that somebody who creates a free speech site and knows all this would find a hosting solution that isn't resolutely against free speech? How do YOU reconcile two opposing halves of your own mind?

[–]magnora7 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

We have rules, the rules must be followed. This is not a free-for-all, and it never was.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

OK I get that. Now what about my question please?

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

What's wrong with the hosting? I guess I missed something. I know about IP2, but not what triggered it, and I never cared much for them. Is there more?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Yes. The hosting company, which I will not name at magnora7's request, has extremely far-left TOS and wholly supports "reverse" discrimination, while being adamant that they will never tolerate content that isn't politically correct in the most extreme way on their servers. As such, I feel that saidit's time as a free-speech-ish site is counting down to zero. As to WHEN the hosting company will see the free-speech-ish nature of this site, they will shut it down. At least, that's what their TOS indicate.

Early on I also made the mistake of calling this place a free speech site. It's not nor ever has been to my knowledge. I came here as a truther. I was not exposed to the alt-right, right, conservatives, etc much and what they considered "free speech". I've learned not to use that in conversation much anymore. To be more accurate, I came here for freedom of skepticism, though I firmly believe in free speech for all, though that no longer means standing on corners shouting. We've never had access to TV and we're not going to get access to Facebook, Google, Twitter, Reddit, etc without serious suppression and/or censorship. This is the modern world.

We may need to federate and/or decentralize wider somehow.

No one wants to be the bad guy or on the bad team. If everyone actually knew that the ENTIRE ruling class and everything they do is against us there would be legit chaos. We all depend on a LOT of hierarchies networked together. It's an incredibly complex matrix, with one fundamental simple truth - ALL leaders are Machiavellian and psychopathic, from corporations to governments to religions. Connecting it all is a giant leap to make for people without the ability, time, energy, motivation, and morality to piece it all together.

Pretty convinced snowden has some widely distributed backups of some truly fucking horrendous truths to not end up suicided or locked up indefinitely.

He's obvious controlled opposition.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I think you are both right: he's controlled opposition and a limited hangout but also is smart enough to have created some dead man's drops.

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

He doesn't need the dirt.

He's a limited hangout. He can say what no one in government can or else they'd be voted out, demonized, etc etc etc. Few in government have spoken up about the issues he raised to say this must not be. He's not revealed ANYTHING new. He's simply there to let us all know we're being watched - whether we are or aren't is another thing. It's the threat and fear of the panopticon to make us all behave, like Santa watching when you're good or naughty.

If John Oliver and others can find him in Russia to interview him then the CIA can to, to kill him. You NEVER get famous and on TV if the MSM doesn't want you there. Hell, Bernie Sanders can't get airtime, and he's also a limited hangout, as is Assange, Chomsky, etc. They are the outer limits of what's "acceptable" on the Left and just might get on TV occasionally.

Snowden (nor those other limited hangouts) can't even comment on the 9/11 scam.

I'm pretty convinced that EndlessSunflowers is a female user that needs a rescue here or there.

Like a two man sniper team.

Holy fuck M14 is outdated. Officers are now officially allowed to carry a M4. No thanks. Who needs this fucking gun ?

No fucks given. We'll free endless sunflowers from her Chinese prison.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Perhaps. I think EndlessSunflowers is good people, male or female, though occasionally posts without thinking in depth on it enough. I suppose I could say the same about myself or anyone too.

Van Gogh comes to mind.

Yeah. I sometimes don't even fight the voices in my head because they are right just so often. I know schizophrenia very well.

Two oxies and i can hear them all. At least mine.

Part of being purple progressive is making the occasional error here or there. She is a good humane being i agree on that.

I hear voices / music in very specific situations. 1) When I've been up for days. 2) Right before sleep. 3) Right when I wake.

Pareidolia - the incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern, or meaning to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music. /s/Illusions/comments/6d5t/pareidolia_the_incorrect_perception_of_a_stimulus/

A sub category of:
Apophenia - to mistakenly perceive connections and meaning between unrelated things.

You really should look into my https://saidit.net/s/Psychology/ posts. It is time and you are capable.

Maybe this is Saruman and Gandalf saving the world from orcish pillage attempts.

You should look into my posts on there as well. ;-)

Yep,I telk you the bloody truth: Saidit is a shithole for losers who are chased and smashed away on other platforms.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

You need to say this why?

Other platforms could defend themselves with simple truths, if that's what they're about.

Only harsh truths require censorship thus chasing us away.

You obviously love your lies enough to be an asstroll.

[–]AmJesus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Harsh trith or not,I just told a truth. Only the "socially unfit" uses saidit. Like it or not,you are one of the losers.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

A harsh opinion, not truth. If folks who use SaidIt are losers, what does that make you who are using SaidIt?

Time to cheer up or be banned.
