But which kind of Pope? There are several popes in the middle east. Not counting the Vatican Pope who answers to the Black Pope. Popes used to be Caesars. For an interesting alt-history conspiracy check out Caesar's Messiah the Joseph Atwill book and/or documentary for a new skeptical way to look at Christianity, and if nothing else, you may learn about the Flavians.
