You obviously have no idea of what happened in the Iranian revolution. You do have some very strong feelings, though. What do we say about people who ignore facts and allow themselves to be ruled by their feelings of the moment?
It was obvious to anyone that Islamists weren't going to free anyone. It was equally obvious that Marxists wouldn't, either. Those were the two factions that united to overthrow the Shah. And boy, you should have seen the look on the leftists' faces when the Ayatollahs turned on them.
Carter didn't hop on the train. He initiated the entire operation. The Shah was a meanie you see, and that nice man the Ayatollah Khomeini totally promised to stay allied with the US afterwards. Surprise, he was lying. Falling for every ruse American enemies could come up with was a hallmark of the Carter administration.
Not surprised you're cheering for the massacring, human rights violating Iranian regime, though. You know, the one that the Iranian people keep rising up against. Anything to be on the other side from America. Remember when you people repeated literal North Korean propaganda? To wit: "dotard"? Another human rights violator.
Funny you should mention The Other. The American people's Other is anyone who's not American, but your Other is the American people. Once you notice it, you can't stop seeing it everywhere.

Sad. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think.
