We used to care that Ukraine was bombing their East Ukrainian mines and risking polluting the drinking water table for the entire area of the continent. One of those mine shafts contain Russian nuclear testing waste. Usually, the area they've bombed for the last 10 years, nearly non-stop, contain mines that need power 24/7 to keep the mine pumps on so the shafts don't flood, spilling the poisonous mining materials from the dozens of mines, as well as the nuclear waste from the one, into the environment.
