It is partly because of the historical injustices that nonwhites feel have been committed against them in the name of racial inequality.

The same is true about gender. Feminists were marching at the same time as the Civil Right's activists, yet the perception that Women are physically less capable than Men or the need to force separate washrooms for genders still exists.

But also, race is a stronger part of a group's identity than gender, so nonwhites can't accept that their groups are unequal.

I can say the same about Gender.

Like look at the right to voting. That was once a male-only privilege until Suffragists chained themselves to buildings or starved themselves. Or Abortion.
