Yes, the source is good. Not only by being about the third most prestigious medical journal in the world, but also by having a non-racist culture.

This is important in medicine, as a lot of testing of treatments is done on university students with a bias towards being better suited to whites and males.

Nothing to do with the scientific method. Quite the opposite in fact. When your premise is "all subspecies of this species are axiomatically equal", you've left the sphere of science and entered into dogma.
