    Thanks for your long and informative response. I always enjoy learning more about Japan as it provides its inhabitants with a high standard of living while ignoring much of the orthodoxies favored by Western economists

    SS: Are there any economists on this sub? This (dated) article on Japan sounds almost too good to be true, a country that puts its people first and is organized around productive labor rather than being dominated by the financial sector.

    If anyone has visited or lived in Japan, feel free to comment.

    Edit: Also, least anyone thing Japan is a utopia, the website landofthesettingsun.com makes a depressing read. I really hope they can hold out and keep their culture intact.
