I think what's often forgotten about Maxwell is she is a dumb and spoilt socialite who had never been able to hold down a job she which wasn't handed to her by daddy her whole life. No way could she say in hiding because she's never had to do anything she didn't want to before. Those convinced she's a super smart mossad agent won't ever be able to make sense of her actions because they will never fit that.
