this blew up in their faces

gofundme said they would 'disperse the funds to certified charities' .. but many states have laws that say the money must go where you asked it to go.

so the lawsuits loomed, and the pressure is being put on by asking credit card companies to refund their money.. this in turn cost gofundme money each time it happens.

gofundme is now returning the money, but the not until the 9th or something like that.. so folks are seeking to ask for more money back to help destroy gofundme

some people are pointing out the insane hypocrisy around gofundme allowing funds for blm/antifa during CHOP in which folks died. they didn't care.

I can't believe they thought this would fly. For it too work they'd assume a majority would bother with chargebacks and would not consider legal remedies. That's insane.

More likely they'd see a flood of chargebacks and legal action. Chargebacks would cost a fortune due to the fees card companies levy on merchants. They'd also risk being penalised if their ratio if chargebacks to charges goes above a certain amount.

If their legal team didn't ring alarm bells, their finance people would have explained the utter lunacy of encouraging tens of thousands of customers to request chargebacks from the company.
