I'm watching this while thinking about my near future endeavours.

I'm not suggesting SaidIt is failing at all, but I wonder if /u/magnora7 you might consider watching this while considering your SaidIt business purpose statement and objectives. Maybe a reassessment and fine tuning is in order.

The other day you mused about a $1 sign up fee and other things to deter asstrolls, yet were reluctant to put too much impediments toward growth. I mention this because Louis goes on about the impossibility of being all things to everyone. Food for thought, digest as you see fit.

reluctant to put too [many] impediments [in the way of] growth

IMO, a current major impediment is the ease of making an account that immediately has full rights, which inhibits growth by allowing a flood of troll accounts.

Imagine how trolling would work if a new account could only make 2 comments per day, vote twice per day, and not be able to post at all with only 1 comment karma. Posting might require 100 comment karma, so the account operator would have to impress the existing community enough to gain upvotes.

The allowed number of comments and votes would rise as the comment karma increased, maybe by a linear .5 x comment karma? 10 comment karma would allow 5 comments and 5 votes per day. Maybe for a period of a week or two there would be a maximum gain of comment allowance and voting per day.

This could really slow the roll of the troll.
