I always hated the textbook game. Especially when searching certain proofs (sometimes you need just a hint or two) and the library only has old issues of of a certain book. This has nothing to do with laziness but especially when you start studying physics or math you most likely just don't have enough oversight how to handle certain tasks but on the other hand have to turn in 20-30 per week.

There is a whole industry making big unjustified money on overpriced books. Elsevier and Springer especially.
