I've been saying for a week the problem is the assumption that you are supporting "the former client states' independence." Being subservient to Davos is accepting a new master, not claiming independence. Look at what is going on in Europe and Canada regarding covid, and you see that there are serious questions about the supposed "independence" of the citizens living there. What Russia is doing is brutal and wrong, but supporting Davos to replace Russia may lead us to second order effects that are equally bad as the evil the original strategy was designed to counter.
