Yes, it's better to kill them early rather than have them suffer and die later. There are contraceptives but that's not going to change a pregnancy being unwanted.

No. The purpose of aborting an unwanted child is to prevent suffering and death later. A possibility is to pass a law punishing parents of an unwanted child for not using contraceptives, but that might lead to unknown ramifications.
