The EU needs to stop funding autocrats, particularly Viktor Orban.

The people of Hungary deserve better. Orban has seized control over the electoral system, the media, the courts, much of the economy, and the universities.

This is not the sort of shit that commands respect.

Boy, you're just full of support for the powerful, aren't you? “The goal is to force Hungary to its knees on the issue.” Who's the authoritarian here?

Why did the EU freak out when the Hungarian team pointed to the word "respect" on their shirts?

Orban is shitting the bed a bit too. He gave in to China, despite public outcry. It sort of looks like the end result is going to be China>EU, and I guess China isn't forcing them (yet) to change. It's buying time, perhaps?

Not at all. Orban is an autocrat. He has power of everything in the country. The Law. The Media. The Education.

“The goal is to force Hungary to its knees on the issue.”

Do you think that being out of the EU is "on it's knees"?

That would make China "on it's knees".

Who's the authoritarian here?

Viktor Orban.

Why did the EU freak out when the Hungarian team pointed to the word "respect" on their shirts?

This must have been a quiet "freak out". I wasn't aware of it at all.

Ah, the non sequitur argument. A classic of the genre.

That's what happens when you get your news from censored sources. Saidit is a free speech site and this article would likely be removed from other sites as it puts the EU in a bad light.

Ah, the non sequitur argument. A classic of the genre.

You claimed that “The goal is to force Hungary to its knees on the issue.” What I said was "The EU needs to stop funding autocrats, particularly Viktor Orban."

I'm trying to understand how you think those are the same thing. Perhaps you should explain in your own words.

Nope. Again with the wrong argument. You're very good at this. Mark Rutte, the effete Prime Minister of the Netherlands said it.

Where are homosexuals safer? On a street in Budapest or in Amsterdam?

Is forcing others to your will autocratic? Why or why not? Does the EU have democratic legitimacy? Or does it have a democratic deficit?

I don't understand the relevance of your questions.

The EU should stop giving Orban money. That's not autocracy. It's kicking out a country that's failing to preserve free speech, free electrons, free education, and the rule of law.

WTF the EU does not believe in free speech. That's an extremist American viewpoint that no Europeans share.

Is the rule of law "forcing others to their knees"? Sounds like fascism to me.

Yeah, sadly it occurs in Poland too. They took almost all public entities, they removed concourses for public jobs so you don't need any education in particular topic to work in the department covering the topic. Nepotism and autocracy in its finest/
