A very good read, and one of the reasons I thought the war could carry on for quite some time. Both sides, USA and Russia, are using Ukraine as a laboratory to work out new ways of fighting wars. And while Russia is now coming out ahead, the end result is not guaranteed. USA could come up with some game-changing Wunderwaffen or some new way of fighting this new war, that gives Ukraine a decisive advantage.

Also, the public discussion of '$60B' in funds to give Ukraine and walk away are a bit of a red herring. The Pentagon is still fully engaged in Ukraine and supporting them in ways that don't show on the regular budget, and they have no intention of walking away from their testing grounds, at least not until they run out of Ukrainian bodies to boil in their test vat.

One thing I want to emphasize is that although the outcome of the SMO is clearly favorable to Russia, it's kind of like the situation in late 1943 in WW2. The failed offensive from Ukraine in the summer is like the Battle of Kursk.

Russia has the upper hand, but the Ukrainians are putting up a stiff fight.

it also highlights how small drones have changed warfare as we know it - it's like how war shifted from line infantry to trench warfare.
