The first one I paid attention to was Iraq 1.0. I remember spending a couple evenings away from home for work, and just having the TV on CNN and watching all the missiles on their way to Baghdad, and thinking 'there are people where those bombs are landing'. We didn't see the death and destruction up close and personal like we do now that everyone has a cell phone, but I knew, I'm not the sort who can push that out of mind just because I don't see with my eyes.

I was too young to know that all the excuses, the Kuwaiti incubator babies and all that bullshit was all made up. I was certainly too young to know that poppy Bush had manipulated the situation to get Iraq to invade Kuwait and give him a casus belli for a war. But I knew that a whole bunch of innocent people were being blown up. I never got over it, I still remember sitting on that sofa watching this happen. That was more traumatizing to me than watching live TV on 9/11.
