Whatever the reason for these attacks it can be agreed that they are not warranted and should stop at all costs.

As next steps, it might be wise for authorities to place heavy fines and perhaps even jail time for any tampering of the machines. This will likely deter future vandals and ensure the security of food delivery and grocery robots everywhere.

I'm guessing in the near future a person tampering with one of these will be charged with assault - just like if they were human.

To be fair, food delivery people are being robbed too. Also food eating people. Also stores, restaurants, drug stores, cars, trucks, trains, houses, everything and everyone, really. That's what you get for imposing austerity and trying to force everyone to live in a ditch and survive on the occasional food bank visit. And then announcing that you're no longer prosecuting low-level crime, or asking for cash bail.
