Reasons 1 & 2 are the usual utter bullshit

Reason 3 - your car spying on you - is a concern but not at all dependent on the car being an EV

Also, the crap about not calling hydrocarbons 'fossil fuels' is stupid because yes, they are 'fossils' (plant and animal life buried and compacted over millennia). The problem with digging up and then burning hydrocarbons and releasing large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere isn't that carbon dioxide is bad. The problem is that you are rapidly injecting a huge amount of 'fossilised' carbon that was buried underground into the atmosphere. That is a dangerous experiment to conduct.

Electric vehicles are a fucking brilliant technology that we should have had decades ago and even potentially should have stuck with a century ago (electric vehicles outsold petrol cars in the first couple of decades of the automobile industry). The car industry has been a pathetic and technologically backwards industry for the last 60+ years and I personally look forward to the imminent disappearance of its dinosaurs (Toyota, BMW, etc). Pretty much all of the German and Japanese car industries is going away, and they have only themselves to blame.

You might enjoy this short video I just came across. It's a walk around and explanation of the functioning of a Detroit Electric EV, built in 1912, that was displayed at the Fully Charged Vancouver show.
