Well it was the french equivalent of the US death penalty and was very rarely used for the past two centuries and entirely stopped nearly 50 years ago. I'd say that it's still less primitive than what the US is doing every day.

But yeah, I was thinking of the users and promoters during the french revolution, not so much about how it kept being used afterwards, though in a less noticeable way :)

First things first: bring the elites down. It's been a recurring pattern throughout history and our particular version has worked for generations to try and avoid meeting the same fate.
