Penelope, you got me site-wide suspended for no reason. You put my thirteen year old account at risk because you got one bad report.

Mistakes happen, but you should acknowledge them, and maybe apologize. Instead I’m seeing a lot of CYA. I expected more from this mod team.

I never would have gotten a suspension if the initial report hadn’t been escalated. Or if there had been a We get reports! warning posted on the thread, which was common practice on WotB in the past.

which was common practice on WotB in the past.

This was affixed to maybe one in a hundred reported posts, and most of them were done by myself.

I don't think you have any idea how many posts are reported by users weaponizing the report button on us, and in fact it was so bad that our greater worry was that admins would start to sanction the sub because of how many senseless reports were being made, so we started to pushback by reporting the reports that were largely used to harass us in the hopes that admins would err on the side of nuking the sub.

No mod has to apologize for this.

Then use the Ignore Button on the initial report so each item can only generate one report!

Toolbox has Approve & Ignore as a setting. One click is all it takes.

I am shocked no one has thought of this. It’s so basic.

No mod has to apologize for this.

This attitude reflects poorly on your whole mod team.

If a mod team screws up, you apologize and explain to the community how you’ll improve moving forward.

You don’t dig your heels in and ignore when you get your own users site-wide suspended especially when the solution is so simple.

Honestly this is the worst response from a mod team I’ve ever seen. The r/GameOfThrones and r/FreeFolk drama, all the crap on r/SubredditDrama, at least none of those mods were getting their own users site-wide suspended and doing nothing to try to correct their mistake.

Shame on you.

No, because (1) then no other mods will see the report, and (2) it looks to admins as if we're just ignoring all the thousands of reports we get.

You don’t dig your heels in and ignore when you get your own users site-wide suspended especially when the solution is so simple.

We still haven't actually established that this is what got you site-wide banned. Especially so considering the report was apparently reported prior to receiving your report.

Your beef is with admins. We're just an easy scapegoat.

That’s what mod chat and MM mod discussions are for.

If a mod is uncertain how to rule on an item, you leave it in the queue and consult with another mod before deciding. Again, this is not hard.

Reddit only cares if items are left in your queue for several days (in practice it’s more like several weeks.)

They expect that some items might require a little internal mod discussion, and that shouldn’t take you more than a day or so.

If something is stuck in your queue longer than that, it’s probably not gonna get much engagement anyway.

and (2) it looks to admins as if we're just ignoring all the thousands of reports we get.

You won’t get thousands of reports if you use the Ignore button after you approve the first one!

You all keep complaining about all the reports you get without taking the one obvious step that would cut down your workload substantially. It’s totally irrational.

We still haven't actually established that this is what got you site-wide banned.

No, the admins established that with the link in the OP.

Penelope escalated on the initial report and then approved. She posted no warning on the thread that this item was already under admin review.

So when I later flagged it as spam, my report was swept in with the earlier one. This all could have been prevented with a simple mod note on the thread or by clicking approve and ignore in the first place!
