I'm seeing a major trend at WotB that many of the regular users don't want visitors to understand WotB's approaches.

It's not deliberate. WotB has been doing this for seven years at Reddit so we're used to doing things certain ways. New WotB members at Reddit have adapted quickly to our quirks, so we haven't had to do much work on new user orientation.

I've been a Reddit WotB member for years - since the time Bernie campaigned (I helped him) - and still knew nothing of the turtle tax, types of bans, inside jokes, what's considered 'dickish' particularly at WatB, &c. A couple years ago I unsubscribed because it had been overrun with misinformation that's spread by the right and/or the 1% perhaps 4 years go. There have been some concerns on the sub that relate to Bernie. And I know that Trump's PR fooled people into believing that he was an outsider, somewhat like Bernie, and thus many Bernie voters were fooled into voting for Trump (who helped push the GOP agenda, as their puppet, harder than ever. I and others knew Bernie was unelecable after the DNC did not support him, and then Hillary failed to campaign properly, while also worrying potential voters. Trump got the anti-abortion vote, which was arguably the main message that turned Christo-fascist voters in his favor. But I digress.) Anyhow: I've visited WatB for years and didn't know what I've learned in the past few days about the sub.

I explained this earlier, and won't explain it again. Essentially, I was at the sub for the period in which it was about this:

not a Bernie Sanders sub but it strives to emulate his WAY of building coalitions with political opponents on those issues where agreement can be found.

I don't know if anyone was 'shelled' at that time.

Within a year or two of the sub's creation it was hijacked by the right-wing misinformation one still sees today. I unsubscribed at that time. The quote above has been entirely untelated to WatB.

I was at the sub for the period in which it was about this: "not a Bernie Sanders sub but"

You might wanna go check the archives (yes, we have archives).
    That wording is fairly new.
