Is there a NIMBY's of Saidit sub? Seems like there should be...

Does this mean that the amount of "content" in this sub does not get counted in "total amount of content in all of Saidit"?

Not saidit censorship. I think WotB was removed from s/all by one or more of our mods to reduce the influx of One Rule violators. We've been attracting a surfeit of uncivil cat toys who violate the DBAD rule fresh out of the gate and repeatedly.

Yep, Penelope did it because the whining from the Goof Troop of 4chan Edgelords would not shut up otherwise.

I encountered censorship here as soon as I got here.

I had registered here years ago as redditrisi. However, apparently that is no longer allowed here. I could not log in as redditrisi. "No such account." However, when I tried to register as redditrisi, I got "There is a poster by that name." So, I tried making a flair that said "I'm redditrisi." Could not do that, either.

[–]BlackhaloPurity Pony: Pусский бот[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Maybe you should have gone with Saiditrisi? I wager that Saidit is trying to avoid any trademark/copyright claims.

[–]risistill me 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

u/netweasel raised that account name as well. Had I thought of it, I may have gone with it. I didn't think of it. However, my objective in trying to be redditrisi here was transparency to my fellow WOTBers.

Saiditrisi could have been a coincidence or a rando parodying the poster known on reddit as redditrisi.

I wager that Saidit is trying to avoid any trademark/copyright claims.

If so, they don't understand trademark or copyright infringement. Or protection of internet platforms.

Let alone the practicalities of suing over the account name of a single poster who used that name at reddit. If anything, I may have a trademark in the name, if I were using it in trade.

[–]BlackhaloPurity Pony: Pусский бот[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'm just surmising that they might have a ban on any username starting with Reddit, but I am too lazy to check.

[–]risistill me 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The "we already have a poster by that name" (redditrisi) was true. I had registered here when I first realized that WOTB had set up a sub here in case reddit got too frisky with us. The "no such poster" message was the false one. But, the ban also applies to flairs, so I did the best I could to let you all know I'm "still" redditrisi.

Reddit sure as hell did not like it when WotB frequented the front page. Measures were taken, though more subtle, I think.

[–]risistill me 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (22 children)

[–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The "front page" of Saidit, unlike Reddit, is a listing of posts from all the subs you are currently subscribed to.

If you do not have a saidit account, there is a list of default subs that are all that one would see.

Going to the sub s/all (https://saidit.net/s/all) gives a broader look at "all" of Saidit, but "all' is not all. There are some excluded from "all".

I have yet to find where the actual "all" resides.

Sure it is, if one thinks of error as the negative of knowledge.

That's a lovely view. I wish I were lovely enough to share it. However, I've always been of the view that one should not expect others to do an internet search simply because someone is curious and too lazy to do his or her own search. Besides, many times at WOTB, it's guest posters asking because they want to attack the source or find some nit to pick. And if you give them a Dem source that is exactly on point, they don't even say thank you or TIL. They simply slink away silently. So fuck 'em.

On the other hand, if you're asking because you did an internet search first and could not find an answer, then sure, ask. I didn't think "/all" was enough info for an internet search to be useful, but I did one anyway; and I was right. The internet was no help.

Similar to Reddit. Where popular posts go for edgelords to complain.

[–]risistill me 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I was unaware of /all at reddit. I really did pretty much stay in WOTB. Very recently, I did create a reddit sock to snoop in subs that redditrisi would be ashamed to be seen in, but I didn't even do much of that.

I tried putting saidit.net/all into my search/url bar, but I only got to a business sub.

To me, it seems more like a case of "Hey, let's check out the new kid. See if we can make him be like the others."

Typical bully tactics.

And typically, when bully tactics do not work, the bullies will go whining to authority, that their bully tactics did not work.

Yeah, that too.

Then again, this is elementary school logic as well, the one that shitlibs are also fluent in :)

And US imperialist logic.

It's as if there was a pattern here somewhere :)

Funny to see the same kind of reactions as with Reddit's shitlibs, but different tone and different words. It's not 'moral outrage' but 'speech outrage', and it's not 'Russian Trumper' but 'nigger gay jew'.

Still, same background of "me no likey so me no wantey so should be canceled".

But those are the noisiest elements. The others, those who would like to see actual topics being actually discussed, are the ones who lose in this deal, by being locked back in the original echo chamber just because a few got pissed.

privates in a twist doesn't work as well for women as it does for men.

Speaking of which...a friend related this story about the guy she was dating.

He complained and complained about needing a bathroom.

After some time, she noticed he had stopped.

I don't see this as a bad thing per se, as it seems that the culture of existing members of Saidit seems to be edgelords throwing around slurs and insults with reckless abandon a la 4chan and calling it free speech. Perhaps this is a good enough solution as WotB is more for mature informed discourse and Sadit is less... grown up.

This lets s/WayoftheBern to continue to be a refuge from Reddit without offending the peculiar "free speech" sensibilities of the regulars of Saidit. I suspect, however that the powers that be of Saidit will eventually come to miss having a more active front page, despite WotB's more limited "free speech."
