Consider: while there are disadvantages to having things under the control of an "absentee landlord," there are advantages as well.

While you cannot expect those changes that you want to occur anytime soon, you also do not have to dread those changes that you do not want to occur anytime soon as well. There is a sense of stability that comes with stagnation.

And you always have the option of going out and building another "eddit."

I mean yeah. But also I don't want to use a website that lacks behind in quality of life changes and features.

I don't want to use a website that lacks behind in quality of life changes and features.

That's always the choice. It's tough to find exactly what you want unless you build it yourself.

I do have a "fine, I'll do it myself" stance on certain things, but not everything.

Sometimes the inconvenience of someone else's product is not quite enough inconvenience for you to go through the alternate inconvenience of just doing it yourself.

Yes, but in saidit's case is the foundation for a great reddit alternative is there. Improving on it really seems the obvious path forward
