Except that this sub is being suppressed by algorithm. If you log out and look (or "private window" for a look) at saidit.net, (the home page) we're not there.

Only if you know enough to go to s/all and look will you find posts from here. Then you do find them.

Or if you are subbed to here, and are logged in, then you find them.

So we're sorta semi-dominating.

Are you subscribed to /s/WayOfTheBern when looking at /s/Subscribed?

[–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I went to https://www.saidit.net/subs/popular/ and discovered that I was subbed to about 65 subs.
Now it's only two.

(popular has the advantage of actually showing what you are subbed to)

But to answer your question...yes.

For some reason the owner re-added the default subs feature that reddit used to have. I don't like it, since it was one of the first things reddit did when it began to fall. But I think the real trouble was with the cabal of mods they appointed over all those subreddits, which isn't happening here (other than the owners controlling certain subs on their own).

It's just not one of the default subs because it historically hasn't been active enough to warrant being a main sub

    [–]MartiniPlease send olives! 🍸 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

are we getting any nearer to being active enough to warrant being a main sub? :) :) :)

also, are you seeing any uptick in people donating to patreon/crypto per the links at the bottom of each saidit page?

    [–]magnora7 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Yeah I could add it to the front page, we'll see how things are going in a week or two.

There has been a few nice donations lately to support the site, and I'm very thankful to those who support saidit in this way!

This sub at Sadit and Reddit has absolutely nothing to do with Bernie Sanders and is indeed against much of what he's worked so hard to develop as a liberal politician for decades (and they also hate AOC, Bernie's co-campaigner). It's entirely hijacked by right-wing jerks. The sub name doesn't describe its content. It's activity developed only recently, because of the strike. Just my 2 cents.

Fuck Bernie Sanders, he's a warmongering piece of shit and a traitor. How's that?

    [–]UncleJemima 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Perfect reason not to be in the default subreddits (sub name unrelated to its content)

    [–]captainramen🇺🇸🛠️ MAGA Communist 🛠️🇺🇸 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Except it is, because the name of the sub is not ILoveBernieSanders or IWantToSuckOffBernie, it's WayOfTheBern.

WayOfTheBern is named for Bernie's Way of building coalitions across ideological divides, from his time as Burlington's mayor to the work that won him the nickname of "the amendment king" on the Hill.

Is he still doing that? Or is he now sheepdogging chumps into voting blue no matter who? Bernie betrayed his own legacy.

he's worked so hard to develop as a liberal politician for decades

I missed this, but this is the problem. He pretended to be on the Left but we now know he's just another Liberal.

    [–]UncleJemima 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

He pretended to be on the Left but we now know he's just another Liberal.

That's a contradiction, much like this sub.

He said somewhere else it was to make saidit look more appealing and not like a Nazi fun house.

My guess is that it is the face of saidit when seen for the first time.

"You get one chance to make a first impression." So you put on your best "greet the new people" face.
Once the new people have signed up, then you can tell them about the rest of the place, in which some parts are not for everybody.

I can see the reasoning behind it.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

      What about that shadowy place?

That's beyond our borders. You must never go there

      [–][deleted] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (12 children)

Most of the users long-term users here are using the all tab - very few of the subs have enough activity to act as standalone subs like Reddit.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (11 children)

Most of the users long-term users here are using the all tab

That's probably a good idea. But anyone coming in fresh without yet making a saidit account (and setting their subscriptions) only gets to see the defaults, presented as "all of saidit."

Unless they know to go to all.

      [–]yaiyen 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

This is so true, i was wondering why their was so much garbage then i notice that subscriptions to all of saidit. Wonder why they do it that way

      [–][deleted] 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

Yes the default subs was a huge mistake

      [–]JasonCarswellWay Of The Burning Man 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Not necessarily a huge mistake, more of a command decision.

As long as people are not "locked in" to those choices and can find their way back out of them.

      [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It kills engagement on non-default subs, and prevents any new subs from gaining traction with the exception of when entire Reddit communities migrate here. I always post to the defaults, even when another sub would be more appropriate, because you will get far less interaction on those posts, as it just limits your visibility to some users who won't see it.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

prevents any new subs from gaining traction with the exception of when entire Reddit communities migrate here.

Not necessarily. It would prevent fast gains of traction, but with new subs, perhaps explosive growth is not what's needed.
But with the right people, and a little time growth would still occur.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Although... the sub numbers do give some interesting data.

If everybody "on Saidit" is subscribed to s/saidit, that's 42,140 people currently.
      (Plus however many unsubscribed)

There's currently 19,750 subscribed here, in s/WayoftheBern. That's a pretty big percentage, if they all came in at once.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Someone should make a Guide For Saidit Noobs showing how to go to https://www.saidit.net/subs/popular/ to add and subtract the ones you want and don't want.

Along with the recommendation to always check s/all every now and again.

      [–]JasonCarswellWay Of The Burning Man 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

What would you like to know? We can draft up more to add to the wiki & faq linked at the bottom of every page. https://SaidIt.net/wiki/index

Also, I was going to make a post asking all SaidIt folks what they think are the most important issues, topical subs, and community subs to list them on a SaidIt wiki page as well as https://Projex.Wiki (yes, I know the SSL needs updating). For what it's worth, I've tried to add all remotely related subs in the sidebox of subs I've set up for folks to discover.

      [–]NetweaselContinuing the struggle 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

What would you like to know?

I've got one, but it's more of a personal annoyance: Why can't I sort the comments by "OLD"?
I've been doing it that way for years, and I miss it.

On the plus side, having the new comments in a thread highlighted is great! Reddit has that feature hidden behind a paywall.

      [–]JasonCarswellWay Of The Burning Man 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I don't know about either. I know about most subs though.
