I mean...

The road WAS closed down because of the protest. They were allowed to be there, but the motorist in question was reportedly fleeing from police and entered the highway from the oncoming lane, and blew through the barricade. This guy is a scumbag, and I don't care what your opinion on the protests is, but it's never a good thing when someone gets killed.

They were allowed to be there

You mean they weren't physically prevented from being there. If you break the law, and a cop doesn't stop you, that doesn't mean you are NOT breaking the law. The city might face a lawsuit for selectively choosing to not enforce the law that night, but I think the protesters having knowingly broken the law at the time will free the city of liability.

Finally, someone with a valid viewpoint! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes (protesting on a freeway, get hit by car; what a surprise!). And the jogger is obviously guilty of manslaughter.... maybe even murder. He straight guns it into a massive group of people. Did he think his 'superior driving skills' would allow him to dip and weave his car perfectly through the mass of stupid humans, or was he counting on hitting someone for the lulz? Either way, great outcome!

Of course it’s not a good thing. Of course.

Freeways are also not great Places to protest

No one gets a permit to protest on a freeway, you dolt. They closed the road by parking cars sideways. You think that is a valid "being closed down for protest?" How naïve you are.

"Hey city hall, can we get a permit to protest in the middle of a freeway??" No... they protested there, like idots, and then the cops 'closed off the freeway' by blocking it with their cars.

You even say that the cops closed the freeway for the protesters. How the fuck is it the protesters fault? Seriously, I think you just enjoy that they got hit by a car because you don't agree with their politics. A young person died and your only thought is "Oh well, they had it coming for protesting in a place that the state allowed them to protest."

it's no one's fault at all...give them all participation trophies and call it a day.
