He failed, and left his kid waiting in the parking lot while he went to steal a different car down the street. Officers arrived and started talking to the kid when dear ole' dad came back with the stolen red car, and the kid just ran from the officers to get in.

Maybe if you're on foot and the officer is some fat guy, I can see possibly escaping. But if your boyfriend has an active warrant out, and you get into a car chase by running from the cops, there's no possible way you're ever going to actually get away with it. The guy would have been arrested, and the girlfriend would have been free to go. Traffic incidents can happen to literally anyone from any country (And often do), but why does it seem so much more common in Asia? Is it just the fact that there are so many people living there, that the value of human life isn't seen the same way as in other countries? Do their traffic laws just suck balls?

Of course, you still get these stories like "Bus crash kills tons of people" in any country, considering coach busses like these are literal deathtraps if anything happens to them. Lol, of course when a BLM protester shoots a Trumptard in self defense, they get swarmed by riot cops and immediately arrested. But when Kyle "dumbass" Rittenhouse murders two people, the cops let him walk walk right by them with his rifle and go on his merry way back home, only arresting him later when it started to look bad on the cops for basically ignoring his entire shooting spree.

Both of these cases are very murky (Both this guy and Kyle may/may not have acted within the law, and that will be decided in the courts), but the difference in police response is fucking insane when it comes down to the politics of the shooter.

It's just like when that guy shot a Trump supporter in Portland. The cops swarmed his house and basically summarily executed him before he even had a chance to give himself up. If the situations were reversed, the cops would have calmly arrested him (Probably take him to Burger King on the way to jail too)

EDIT: It just occurred to me that the shooter was apparently a private security guard hired by a local news channel (In response to Trump supporters attacking journalists). So while he may not be a BLM protester, he was still there as a counter to Trump's blackshirt dumbasses.

Literally no one is saying that. Really the only thing that the cops could have done better is maybe have the guy with the dog move away. They guy was clearly high as a kite and was saying he would comply if they took the K9 unit away (Hell, I'd be scared of an attack dog too).

I'm usually against the cops (If they're shooting people in the back and stuff like that), but this was a solid shoot. They really did give the guy multiple chances to comply and seemed to be rather professional when they were talking to the suspect. Hell, I'm actually surprised that they waited as long as they did to open fire. Sometimes there's just unfortunate situations like this where the cops have to shoot someone, and that's just something we'll have to live with in this country. What I'm against is things like the shooting of Daniel Shaver, or Jacob Blake, where the cops simply gun you down just because you didn't follow their commands properly.

Dude's on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck, when an unmarked white van pulled up right in front of him. How the fuck was this guy supposed to know it was the cops when they're driving around in unmarked vans in the middle of the night? I can almost guarantee you that the dead man pulled his gun out because he likely didn't know it was actual cops, and the cop, without any backup whatsoever (who left his radio in said unmarked van and wasn't in uniform), decided that this man needed to die.

What a lot of people are advocating is actually that the social workers would accompany the armed officers on these sorts of calls. The social worker would lead the interaction with the person having a mental health episode, while the armed officer would supervise and only intervene if the situation called for escalation of force.

What we have now, is that armed officers (Who rarely, if ever, have training on how to de-escalate situations with mentally unstable people), are initiating and leading the interactions, and quite often, the officers escalate to the point of having to shoot. But if we could have someone more specialized who can try and talk that person down, then the armed officers could step in and detain them once they've been talked down by the social worker.

So in your scenario, that wouldn't happen because if the social worker can't talk him down (And he tries running or going to hurt his family), then the armed officer could use appropriate force.

Literally no one is saying that.

That's why body cameras are so important, and releasing their footage for public review is one of the things police can do to increase public trust. I'm fairly left wing myself, and because we were able to see the body camera footage of this incident, we know the police aren't lying or covering up something sketchy. This wasn't going to have any other outcome (kid was determined to commit suicide by cop) and sometimes that's just how it goes, what I (As a left-winger) want, is for the police to simply be held accountable when they do fuck up.

Seriously, I've honestly never heard a nice 911 dispatcher. I don't give a fuck how stressful their job is, there's no reason to act like a bitch to the people who are probably having a way more stressful time for having to call 911 in the first place. I get that they want to get as much information as they can, but they always seem to berate the caller for freaking out.

This is going to be happening in the US in a few years, I guarantee it. Us Americans think we live in the best country on earth, but it's all a facade that can come crumbling down in a weekend. Our police are basically state-sponsored thugs, large corporations run our lives and control our politicians, and those same politicians are doing the best they can to divide Americans to the point where each half of the country wants to kill the other half.

We think we have it good, but this is our future. The super-rich will cash out, and leave America as a failed state.

It's not like we don't deserve it though. You make fun of these people for being so desperate that they'll steal gas from a crashed truck, but why do you think their economy is this bad? The US has been fucking with other countries since the turn of the century. "Oh, you have a stable, socialist government that's good for the people? Sorry, we don't like commies, have some death squads and US-funded civil wars."

Driver was reportedly fleeing from police at the time. I highly doubt this guy knew there was a protest, just saw a closed road and thought it was a good way to get away from the cops. He should have the book thrown at him of course.

Lmao, the protestors were allowed to be there and the road was closed specifically for them (They got one of those permits that right-wingers are always screaming about), and you can still somehow twist this into being their fault. It's unreal. Maybe the entire blame falls on the scumbag driver who was fleeing from police at the time, who blew through a barricade and entered the highway from the oncoming lane.

Just because you don't agree with the protests or their methods, doesn't mean they deserve to get hit by cars. It's insane how polarized we are when half of the country will actively celebrate and wish for the deaths of the other half.

They were allowed to be there, but the motorist in question was reportedly fleeing from police and entered the highway from the oncoming lane, and blew through the barricade. Who the fuck is more scared?! A guy with a tiny dick and a gun, or some unarmed guy with no gun? Victim blaming sure is cool when it supports your twisted ideology. I'm all for gun ownership and self defense, but when you've escalated an argument to the point where you feel like you have to shoot the other guy, you've already fucked up. If you carry a gun, you have to be prepared to lose every argument with strangers, you have to be aware if you simply being there with a gun is going to escalate the situation.

Sure, if some guy suddenly assaults you out of nowhere? Go ahead and drop his ass.

If you get into a heated argument (Or track down a jogger with a shotgun and your drinking buddies), and escalate it to the point of having to shoot the other person, you basically caused their death by not backing down (Or in Arbery's case, he was literally stopped by some fatass losers with a shotgun because they assumed he was committing a crime)
