Okay guys I normally don't comment, but this is just too funny to not shed some light on what happened at 770 eastern pkwy today lmao. The fact that it's getting posted on international news is cracking me up. some background as a local Chabad guy that grew up religious in the community of crown heights. The Rebbe, Aka Rabbi Menachem Mendel shneurson, Passed away a while ago leaving no clear leader to the Chabad sect of judiasm. 770 has had a space problem for years and being that the building is contested due to no clear owner, the building cannot be expanded. There are a group of people that hang out in the synagogue which are a bit more fanatical and believe that the rebbe is the messiah. This group decided to take maters into their own hands and decided to expand 770. They built a section which leads from the back of 770 which main entrance is on eastern pkwy to union st a while ago. this has for the most part been kept a secret. what you are seeing now is other people involved with the building trying to undo the add on. They lay claim to the building as well. and this is where the police got involved.
