I feel like the tide is turning on this nonsense. You can take hormones, get surgeries, whatever, but you cannot change your sex. At first it seemed kind to agree to pretend for those suffering from dysphoria. But now it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that going along with these delusions does far more harm than good.

Here's the thing, I'll be nice to people as a default, and that includes trans-people, because in 99% of situations there's not much reason to treat them any differently than anyone else. You come into my shop and want to buy tampons? Ok why wouldn't I sell them to you? Maybe you are buying them for your husband, I don't know, I don't care, here's your shit. Have a nice day.

There is a cost to bring nice to crazy psycophatic types. Those transtrender Karen types, like any Karen crybully, is trying to invoke a pity response from third parties and then use that to manipulate them into giving you something. If you'll put up with rediculous nonsense they'll identify you as someone they can control and they'll find more and more ways to exploit you. Including painting you as the horrid transphobe to your social circle once all the sane people have left leaving you with no choice, or you can be a "cunt" to them straight out and tell them the N word. No.

They'll whine and complain but literally none of it will get back to you if you are consistent from the beginning and not being a retard about it and apologizing for stepping on feelings. What it does do is paint you as someone they'll avoid leaving your life relatively bullshit free.

It's common with anything. I've had people try to do it with me before. Someone in a group I'm in posts some bad factually incorrect information that might mislead people. I'll respond with "That information is completely incorrect, where did you get that idea?" because I want to sincerely understand why they think that and where that information comes from. Then five women I've never known all come out of the woodwork to defend how I've been rude to their friend and how I need to apologize right now, no. I need to privately ask nicely if it's ok to correct them or some shit so they can make up some way to cancel me first no doubt. Fuck that shit. What you said is wrong. I've got proof that it's wrong. And nothing about it is rude. Zero apologies needed. If you are worried about your reputation being sullied by posting misleading information, check your information before you post it. They whined and complained but it goes nowhere and as soon as they see I'm not going to budge on it, and on the contrary snap back that the continued messaging and goading for the apology after I've said no constitutes a very clear cut case of harassment, they leave to fine an easy victim to bully.

How I deal with twitter storms. Is the complaint constructive and substantive? No? Is it a bunch of stupid bullshit nobody who isnt crazy would believe, awesome, free fucking publicity. Go ahead and scream transphobia on the no men in the women's restroom policy. If it scares off the men that want to use the women's restroom it's a win, you are publicizing my place for me for free. Awesome. It's not like I'm going to deny the trans people service or use of the private handicap restroom if they wish.

a lot of Twitter controversies are also defused by "gray rocking" them--just don't make proverbial eye contact, don't say "we're looking into it," don't say "we're having talks with the person about the issue," don't say "we hear your concerns"

Yeah the twitter outrage is a small tiny portion of people having their voices amplified far beyond what they actually influence. Companies I think haven't realized quite yet that getting loads of outrage from a tiny portion of your customer base doesn't actually mean the customer base is unhappy. Consider it a fault of statistics.

Maybe one in 100 customers is inclined to send any feedback so you extrapolate that if you get 1000 complaints that means 100,000 hold that view and you think it's significant, but it might be that only the 1000 people who are crazy responded at all.

Like I remember back in the reddit days I found a funny complaint by someone about a video game that they where whining about how it made them disphoric because they could name the character anything they wanted but the game didn't have a gender option since the developers probably didn't want to bother making a second player model. It was fucking hilarious non problem because the easy fix is just to not use your name. Company taking such a complaint seriously is stupid.

Now if the complaint is actually substantive, yes you need to respond, like if your game doesn't actually work or you overcharged everyone for it, stuff that could actually land you in legal trouble, you get to fixing it and apologize, if it's a bunch of online idiots complaining about how there aren't enough or too many or not gay enough black people or some shit just ignore them. They probably aren't even your customers and just crazy online activists.

I agree that social media outrage can often be blown out of proportion, with a small portion of customers having their voices amplified. Companies should be cautious in interpreting such outrage as a reflection of their entire customer base. It's important to differentiate between substantive complaints and those that are trivial or driven by online activists.
