They tried to study non-binary people's brains too but the results were inconclusive. Every time they did a brain scan it came up with an error that said "this person is too cool to be studied"

Tl;dr

Interestingly, we found that intelligence of males and females were underpinned by different neurobiological correlates, which are consistent with their respective superiority in cognitive domains (visuospatial vs. verbal ability).

Additionally, the identified FC patterns are only uniquely predictive to multiple IQ-relevant metrics scores of the same gender but are not predictive to the opposite gender nor to the temperament traits. This study facilitates our understanding of the biological basis of intelligence by demonstrating that intelligence is underpinned by a variety of complex neural mechanisms that engage numerous brain regions, particularly including those identified by P-FIT and basal ganglia, which however show remarkable gender difference.

Interesting.

Women don’t have brains. Problem solved. If your a man you automatically can’t be a woman.

What about the poor, poor trans babies?

I'm no scientist, but it is my understading that the idea that male and female brains are different is something that science has scientifically proven something like decades ago.

No it has been bitterly disputed for a long time. Feminists have never liked “biological determinism” so there have been lots of efforts to debunk the idea that men and women have structural differences in the brain. Books have been written decrying the idea that men and women differ.

This study seems to be the first to have observed differences that not only predict gender but also predict intelligence based on differences in intelligence between genders.

Oh, so you're a sexist fuckwit, blaming imaginary "feminists" for everything?

[–]jet199 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

I've literally sat in a talk by a feminist neuroscientist where she said there were hardly any differences between men and women's brains and people were obsessed with finding differences for bad reasons.

[–]spanishprofanity 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

just one, huh?

Women's Place, they post most of their talks online too.

So what really happened is that you read an internet forum and chatted with someone who said they were a woman and a neuroscientist, and now you think you know what all feminists think? By the way, even the shittiest neuroscientists know of the actual physical differences between male and female brains.

When you're so triggered because someone (who is another feminist from all of their posts) said something soooo MEAN that goes against the party line you're ready to say "oh, no, people who claim to be cakegender's brains are literally made of cake! Someone who's brain is warmgender is just relatively warm! Someone who's pupgender has the brains of a dog! Someone who's AmongDripgender has a picture of the AmongUs Drip meme inside their head!"

Are you crazy?

[–]LyingSpirit472 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Considering that is basically what you're saying with the "no, there's totally differences and people can have different brains even if the science is proving otherwise", I could say the same about you.

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Science, real science that is, has proven long time ago that male and female brains are absolutely different. I really don't understand what we're discussing here. There are just as many differences in the male and female

Or maybe you don't want to discuss science but "science"? The same American "science" that says human sex is not binary and that mutilating mentally ill people helps them?

[–]LyingSpirit472 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The whole point of science, REAL science that is, is that the answer is always subject to change whenever actual new research comes up. You'd be just as insane to say something like "midwives don't need to wash their hands before delivering babies" as you would to say the earth is flat, because once that was science, now it is not.

This science is showing new recent proof the difference between men's brains and women's brains is not as extreme as claimed here, while also countering the "science" you claim is happening by saying "no, there is no difference between a trans person's brain and a cis person's brain", and you're out here claiming this study is "science" because saying the differences between the male and female brain are not particularly major makes your fee-fees hurt even though to ignore it is saying that you believe "human sex isn't binary, mutilating mentally ill people helps them" "science" is correct. In this instance, you are literally just as bad as the snarts you claim to hate.

What do you think the Social Constructionists were arguing against?

Social constructionism is a massive part of feminist ideology.

There being biological and evolutionary differences in the sexes undermines social constructionism.

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

First of all, I think you are talking about social DEconstructionism.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Nope, I had it right. Social constructionism

Unlike phenomena that are innately determined or biologically predetermined, these social constructs are collectively formulated, sustained, and shaped by the social contexts in which they exist. These constructs significantly impact both the behavior and perceptions of individuals, often being internalized based on cultural narratives, whether or not these are empirically verifiable. In this two-way process of reality construction, individuals not only interpret and assimilate information through their social relations but also contribute to shaping existing societal narratives.

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Oh, so you say feminists WANT social constructs (like the roles of men and women in society) to carry on?

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

No. Social constructionists don’t “want social constructs” they believe everything is a social construct. So, according to them, the differences between men and women are social constructs.

It’s blank slatism, a rejection that biology has any role to play in the way that humans are or are organised. Social constructionists reject the role that biology plays in determining how humans act. The fight against “biological determinism” is not new, it’s straight up something you’d hear from a 1970s-2000s feminist.

Oh, I see. In that case I stand corrected: you were right and I didn't understand correctly.

However, I still really hate this whole blaming feminism for everything. Feminism is, at its core, about women's rights. Hating feminism means hating the idea that women should be treated as full and free human beings.

And don't give me "buuuut so many feminists are evil or stupid nooooow!". Because if you want to shine spotlights on them, it's because you want an excuse to hate on the idea that women should be free.

Here, let me explain. I'm an animal rights activist. You won't see me make the crazy false equivalence of claiming that animal rights are causing harm to animals because of how PETA is full of nutcases who kill animals, and therefore we should ban animal rights activism because it's really about hurting animals. You also won't see me talk constantly about the obnoxious holier-than-thou vegans. Yet it's what you do when you screech about the evil feminists.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I didn’t screech about “evil feminists” I merely said that feminists have argued a particular point.

I was completely polite in my replies to you, a courtesy you didn’t extend to me.

Every time you post, you damage the image of all feminists by being a volatile and unhinged lunatic. Keep up the good work!

I'm pretty sure that testosterone envitro has pretty significant effects on brain development.

I'm also pretty sure that there's some degree of variant among individuals as well. So it shouldn't be completely surprising if there are cases where a male shows brain patterns that seems closer to those of a female and vice versa. But that still doesn't mean they are born in the wrong body though, just that they aren't typical of their sex.

I don't like the idea of going in and telling kids that there's something wrong with them either their body or their brain just because it doesn't seem to match the statistical norms. Otherwise healthy children should just be let alone to grow without much meddling in areas that don't matter. If a boy prefers to play tea party with the girls, let him. If a girl prefers to look for frogs in the garden, let her. Nothing wrong with either of those cases, usually just parents panicking that their kid isn't "normal" whatever that means and either trying to force the kid to be like the stereotype of their sex, which I think can induce gender disphoria, or they embrace that the kid is really the other sex which again probably induces gender disphoria.
