Of course- "queerness" is perfect for the basic bitch. It makes you inherently cool and interesting without having to be cool and interesting, and being "queer" sounds enough like being a lesbian that nerdy Melvin won't do anything to you, but hunky Chad will know it's word salad and you're DTF.

Well, no, more the inverse - it's designed to scare off "Chad" or any other conventional, normal person by advertising itself as too weird and freaky for them, because those girls think that Chads are the problem, and nice safe Melvins are good.
It isn't until ten years later when their sexless, detached relationship collapses in on itself after they catch nerdy Melvin paying a hooker with his mom's name to step on his balls that they realize maybe normalcy is not a bad thing.

But you forget: Those same conventional, normal people will not be scared off if the woman is too weird and freaky for them; if anything, they're more likely to assume "crazy in the head, crazy in bed" and be more interested in sleeping with them for it. It's only the nerdy losers who will be scared off.

But normal guys have options; they can date attractive, well-adjusted women with normal hairstyles who wash their hair regularly. They don't have to settle for the greasy dregs like nerdy Melvin. They probably look at those girls and feel a mixture of pity and the opposite of an erection.
