I suspect it's one of those polls that goes from 70-30 to 30-70 if you slightly rephrase the question--sure, everyone's gonna say "trans people are people," but if you ask "do you think the most embarrassing crusty pudyanker in a Sailor Moon outfit ought to have final say over your employment and run around naked with your daughters?" that stacks the deck in the opposite direction

A good point! The morality question was bait as far as I’m concerned. I don’t even personally consider it a moral issue in the sense that people can act how they like as long as they aren’t imposing their expectations on the rest of us. So I can’t say it’s really moral or immoral personally. But when it comes to the behavior of people who consider themselves trans activists, bullying women, running around in their sailor moon outfit, or barging into women’s changing rooms to ogle real women, you can be fucking sure I think that’s not only morally reprehensible, but that those people are depraved greasy human excrement. And I think most people would agree with that overall.

So I do think that Gallup was being weasely as shit, the way they asked that second question, but still got mixed results… regardless of what the left seems to believe, trans and queer gender woo is NOT POPULAR. And I’m grateful people are getting sick of it and the backlash is under way.

it's also the law of small numbers: there's far more non-flamboyant gays than "queerTM" trans women: the Folsom Street bondage parade, "we're coming for your kids" gays are a smaller percentage of gays (especially after they kicked out the TRANS trans with dysphoria as "truscum" 2016)

so if someone's Jewish, tells someone, and they say "you're not gonna corner me and tell me how Eve Barlow is right about everything, are you?" they'd rightly take offence; if someone tells someone they're a firm atheist and the person they're talking to says "you're not gonna corner me, scream that I'm a Dark-Ages primitive who's going to destroy mankind, and tell me that the Church invented the Roman Empire, are you?" the nonbeliever's likely gonna say "oh, I'm not one of THOSE Reddit atheists"

and the more fractured and small these groups, the more ... variety you get in their level of extremism: nobody's nervous around Methodists, but if someone's in the 1619-Only Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Primitive Pentecostal place down in the strip mall, people are likelier to be on their toes, and not for theological reasons
