Great, hopefully that'll see the end of replacing characters from European myths with pathetic race-swaps in the name fake diversity. Maybe they can follow that by firing whoever keeps thinking that shitty (semi) live-action remakes of their stuff is a good idea.

They still have the Latina Snow White to come out…wondering what they’ve done to the seven dwarves in that…I’m predicting sex and race swaps of at least one.

The failure of Pinocchio (with, ignoring the race-swap, the ugliest bald blue fairy), the disasterous loss of The Little Mermaid and the upcoming failure of Snow White, I think live action remakes might be quietly stopped.

The flop of Elemental and Lightyear also highlight the disaster it was firing John Lassiter for dubious reasons.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to lose astronomical amounts of money (they brought in Phoebe “Franchise Killer” Waller Bridge), they resorted to having Harrison Ford beg fans to go see it this weekend.

Star Wars is dead, they’ve gone full desperation and announced they’re bringing back Rey for a movie. Star Wars Acolyte looks and sounds like it is going to be literal AIDS and their one moderately successful Star Wars IP “The Mandalorian” just shit the bed in Season 3.

Marvel is in deep trouble having lost money on Antman 3 ($476m global box office on a reported $200m budget) and even Guardians 3 was only a muted success ($822m global box office on a, some say, underreported $250m budget). They’ve sacked their “big bad” actor for putting hands on a woman and have been forced to push back TV shows and films for cost reasons and their brand new show “Secret Invasion” hasn’t even aired yet and the critics have shat on it.

Disney is fucked, they even fired the woman who was set to be the next CEO, the current CFO.

If I were Bob Iger I would be implementing “Project Based” across all IPs and kicking the Alphabet and feminist crowd out, because they’re the ones who have run the company down into the ground. Disney was riding high when it catered to what little girls wanted with its Disney Princesses and let Marvel make movies for little boys, and Star Wars would have been massive if they had just gone with fan favourites and brought in Timothy Zahn to adapt his Heir to the Empire trilogy for older Luke, Leia and Han.

And Indiana Jones 5 just didn’t need to be made at all. They could have made a Young Indy TV show, reviving the old 1990s show that was fun and sadly cancelled too soon.

What I’m trying to say is:

ClassroomPast6178 for Disney CEO

If you consider how Disney is getting bodied between their mounting string of less-than-stellar release payouts, actual failures, and the ongoing mess with Ron Desantis--which demonstrates why corporations shouldn't try to play politics--it definitively proves that the opposite of the Midas touch exists, where they turn gold to shit.

And I totally support your bid for the office of Disney CEO. Maybe as a fine, upstanding citizen of Britainistan, you can oversee a Disney release of Wallace and Gromit.

No! My first act as Disney CEO would be to have it written into the corporate constitution that Disney may never, ever, ever purchase, collaborate or even watch anything from Aardman Animation and anyone suggesting that it do such a thing will be Epsteined.

I left out all the political meddling, but you’re right that has had a massive role to play in Disney’s downfall.

If only you were right. I think they're going to double down instead

No, I think Iger just about managed to hold off a stockholder/boardroom coup a couple of months ago, so I think they will release what they’ve shot but won’t commission any more, especially with the writers’ strike ongoing and an actors’ strike looking likely for the autumn, nothing is getting made in the short term. I think the age of live action remakes are dead after Moana and Snow Off-White.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see DisneyPlus shitcanned in the near future either, it’s losing them so much money when they could be licensing their stuff to other streamers and making bank.

The one thing missing from your analysis is ESG scores. Banks are using ESG to determine a corporation's interest rates, or indeed, if they'll loan that corporation money at all. This puts them in direct contradiction with their consumers. Ultimately, does a corporation exist to serve customers? Or is their purpose to repay loans from the bank? Today it's the latter.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see DisneyPlus shitcanned in the near future either, it’s losing them so much money when they could be licensing their stuff to other streamers and making bank.

I think you're right here. I cancelled my subscription earlier this year. Literally none of their original content is worth watching.

Snow Off-White

Great synopsis. Yeah, at this point, Disney has shit the bed so thoroughly that it's more shit than bed.

Star Wars: The Acolyte apparently just got cancelled and the showrunner fired according to Doomcock. Things are happening.

Disney is owned and run by jews so no, that will never happen.

It'll be fun when they double-down and hire a trans person. Or better yet, some other-kin, given how much Disney loves to anthropomorphize things.

So long, LaTondra.

Firing a person is not enough. The position of "diversity officer" existing at all is damnable.

I read that she quit? I think a lot of these grifters are starting to realize the writing is on the wall...

[–]ClassroomPast6178 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don’t think people quit and let others write their goodbye letter. I bet they’re spinning it as a resignation but it was a heavily suggested resignation.

It’s like politicians, very rare for a minister to be fired, they always resign to spend more time with their families or focus on their constituency work.
