For someone who's in a public parade, the bearded dude at 10 seconds really doesn't look like he wants to be on camera.

If I were a Chinese, North Korean, Israeli (the Israelis are spying on all their “friends”), Russian or Iranian spy chief I would sending my goons to photograph and identify every single person who marches in a Pride parade in Washington DC, particularly the defence contractors and Government marchers.

Identify, honeytrap/spike, kompromat, exploit.

If I were a defence contractor that absolutely had to play the ESG game, I’d pay actors to March in pride in our t-shirts instead of real employees.

But on the other hand: This is actually pretty shrewd for defense contractor/government to support people marching at Pride parades.

The reason the honeytrap works is because the person you're exploiting has something they need to hide, and you can use this to blackmail them into doing your bidding. They had an affair that they can't risk their wife learning about- or in this case, they don't want people to know they're gay.

By contrast, a defense contractor/Government member who's marching at Pride is out of the closet. They're perfectly fine telling you who, what, or how they like to have sex, so they're an open book and won't particularly care if you tell everybody that they slept with your honeytrap; shit, they might tell people themselves. The value of them as a honeytrap candidate is far lower than it would be if you find someone who has something to hide.

This is true. And this is part of the reason I think why they promote this.

Though I think in today's era you could simply deny accusations. Like say they got photos of you with your gay lover in the act. You just say it's fake and you can't trust a spy. And if they leak the pictures great, you can then just insinuate anyone looking at them to check for accuracy is a perv anyway.

While you're right they could just deny it, even if they leak the pictures or have the blackmail, you forget that the mere rumor of something or whisper of it is enough to make people assume it, even if you deny it. Like, if they have photos of you with your gay lover, you can deny it, but the whisper of it will get enough strength that you'd be better off just coming out and dealing with that than letting the whispers go further.

I reiterate:

Depending on the person marching at Pride, they would absolutely be perfectly fine if you tell people they slept with a child/animal/etc. as well. Even that won't stop them.

More seriously I hear about a crazy amount of coverup in that community. To the point where it looks worse that you're telling people to not report a rapist because it'll make the community look bad, ostracising any who come out with those allegations anyway and close ranks around the rapist. Depressing how they don't see that it looks like (and is) the community defending rapists. So now as well as having rapists you have a reputation or protecting them too.
