I think for men our experience with most interactions are similar to what women experience with approaches from men.
That is to say, pretty much any time people talk to us, it's because they want something. Men learn to appreciate solitude because it's when we are not being called on for something.
That doesn't mean we don't get lonely, we just prefer solitude to obligation.
