There need to be completely independent appraisals of the situation happening from competent unrelated adults with nothing to gain or lose from the decision.

But that's also a problem- quite frankly, the issue has become such a hot-button tribalized issue that literally EVERY person in the world has an ulterior motive to it. It's a line in the sand moment. The doctors are all profit mad and equally "I refuse, then my career is over", the judge is "if I vote yes on this person, I can kiss Republican votes goodbye...but if I vote no on this person, I can kiss Democrat votes goodbye", and even unrelated adults have their political views to say no it.
