They got quite a fame boost from the Covington Boys scandal (eventually, when the full video and story came out), and then they disappeared from the zeitgeist. It’s not like they’ve not had help I’m fairly certain both Louis Theroux and Jon Romano have done documentaries with them, and then there was that viral clip of them making that orthodox Jewish boy cry. They really cannot catch a break those Black Hebrew Israelite fellas.

also the nationalist "original Americans'" newest angle is that Black people weren't enslaved in Africa, but were the real Taino/Muskogee (and Southeast Indians are actually more recent immigrants after 1600 AD)
