A horrified shopper has branded Sainsbury's 'big daddy' steak sexist and 'wildly inappropriate' and demanded they rename it.

Rose Robinson, from Norwich, nipped into Sainsbury's in North Walsham two weeks ago to grab a few bits when she spotted their 'Big Daddy beef rump steak' on the shelves.

The 38-year-old claims she was stopped in her tracks by the meats' 'sexist and misogynistic' name and felt completely 'bewildered' as to the supermarket's thought process behind it.

The mother-of-three deemed involving gender when marketing generic food items 'wrong and unnecessary', as there are other ways its super-sized nature could have been hammered home.

She said: 'A big daddy steak is still on the shelves in Sainsbury's supermarket in 2023, it just felt wrong and unnecessary.'

She was probably the twit who complained about “Gentlemen’s Relish” a few years ago…she presumably hasn’t made it to the aisle with “Daddy’s Sauce” yet.

I just love the ridiculously over the top reaction. Any one would think they had marked all the steak as “men’s food” and the prepared salads as “food for the little woman” and moved their sanitary products to a shed in the car park marked “supplies for the unclean”.

Yes indeed it is quite funny. I can't imagine anyone taking this person seriously. If I was the store manager I'd laugh in her face then tell her she is welcome to boycott the store. And please make a tiktok and tell the world as well. Absolutely give me that free publicity. Like it's just great. It seems like a weird viral marketing stunt but nah couldn't be that right?

I don’t think it is, “misogyny” and “sexism” are two words that no company wants anywhere near their brand..only thing worse right now would be “racist”.

Not that they would want it attached to their company of course. But it does seem like a good way to get buzz no? They do say any publicity is good publicity. And this is so silly a problem that it would only turn away the most rabid insane types anyway no? And most of them are probably vegan anyway.

That's a legal issue.

I don't think the loss of business was the problem there. It was the lawsuits.
