He's lucky if that's the only visit he gets in Mississippi. Shoe on the other foot, how would he like it if (god forbid) some straight guy tried to have conversations about sex and orientation with his underaged daughter?

It's the "violence against trans people" myth. When does violence against trans people happen? Well, if you don't tell your lover you have a penis and have sex with them anyway (rape) sometimes they're going to respond violently. Or sometimes when you're trying to groom children the parents find out and respond violently. But yes it's the trans person who is the perpetual victim. Will we not think of the poor trans rapists and pedophiles being murdered!
