It's classic Psyche 101 class style projection.

These types get in on the boards of publishers or whatnot because they play at being nice, and also because publishers are scared of the other group of irrational emotionally motivated types that will gang on and act censorious towards their books, namely parents. Which is why this shit always tends to happen around children's books. Except it must always invent new and stupid ways of keeping the outrage alive. Today you can't say fat in the children's book, 5 years ago they were throwing a fit over the word nigger showing up in Huck Finn. The reason for the outrage is the same in either case, they are clearly fat phobic racists at heart and get emotionally worked up when confronted with the harsh realities of life, preferring instead to pretend such things don't exist.

What is wrong with being fat? What is wrong with describing a fat person as fat? Absolutely nothing? No shit. Is it an outright insult? Perhaps in context. But as a description. The fat pride people pretend at being happy with themselves at any size but if that were true they'd not be bothered by people calling them fat. Simply put they are ashamed of themselves and think negatively of that, and instead of merely changing their diet and exercising or making the other hard decisions to fix that, they prefer instead to act like emotionally spoiled children and get angry and upset with both the reality of life they are cast into along with anyone who dates to point out that reality and not give into their juvenile fantasies of being a healthy and attractive land whale like some kind of Jabba the Hutt lookalike.

What's wrong with a middle schooler reading the word nigger in a book written more than 100 years ago set in a time where slaves were literally slaves (and not their descendents, or so they claim, larping oppression, but actually bonefied real ass slaves) lived in a world of racists, racist attitudes, prejudice and oppression. That's how it was. It was terrible, but we're going to cry poo poo at the nigger word in this old book that does more to humanize and put forth a sympathetic eye to the plight of poor Jim all because it hurts the sensibilities of some middle aged white middle class soccer mom type. We might as well just get rid of all the references to slavery while we are at it to protect their poor minds from being polluted from the very idea that people can be horrible to each other. God forbid these people actually read 1984 either lest the point of that book go so far over their head that it gets mistaken by Biden for a weather balloon. Omg the main character of 1984 is a creep that visits toothless prostitutes and has an affair with someone half his age. This book is not appropriate for the children at all! We should get rid of that and just leave in the technology surveillance as that was the point of the book. Rememeber kids that Jesus is always watching you so don't do anything untoward with the other sex. That's how the government wants to control you after all. Now let's get you some purity rings. (Stupid Orwell with his Hate week, junior anti-sex league and the like, what a goddamn sex obsessed pervert!)

The changes have been criticised by many authors, who say that restricting wildly-used language risks prohibiting writers from portraying the world as it really is.

Hundreds of changes were made to the original texts, extinguishing Dahl's colourful and memorable descriptions, some over fifty years old, to make his characters less grotesque.

Some of the changes include alterations to well-known classic works by the author, including Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Matilda.

Augustus Gloop in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory can now only be described as 'enormous'.

Mrs Twit's 'fearful ugliness' has been chopped to 'ugliness' and Mrs Hoppy in Esio Trot is not an 'attractive middle-aged lady' but a 'kind middle-aged lady'.

Gender is also eliminated with books no longer referring to 'female' characters.

Miss Trunchbull in Matilda, once a 'most formidable female', is now a 'most formidable woman', while her 'great horsey face' is now called 'her face'.

Oompa-Loompas who were once 'small men' are now 'small people' and Fantastic Mr Fox's three sons have become daughters.

I've got some complaints. They've not gone far enough. Willie Wonka's first name should be changed to William to distance from the patriarichal phallic reference. The golden ticket lottery needs to be changed because it promotes both gambling and hight pressure capitalist marketing of unhealthy candy towards children.

Not to mention the problematic behavior of the titular character William Wonka running a factory run by dwarven slaves making unhealthy chocolate. No thanks. Now William runs a collective vegan farm making organic fruits and vegetables and instead of oompa loompa we have queer non-binary feminists from Staziland.
