The idea about munchausen's mothers has long been discussed in radfem and gender critical gay groups. We have jokingly or disparagingly referred to it as "transhausen's by proxy".
I don't think this applies to this particular mother though or she would never have pushed back on the second son or been critical of the gender therapist. She just bought into the "cult" mindset and in that space there is no room to question the entire concept of a "gender identity".
This is an example of how TRAs dangerously hijack other legitimate social justice issues and launder their gender religion through the good will generated around whichever issue is at play. In this case it was antiwar protests and then they link it to marginalized groups then to an "marginalized identity" then somehow a person has a connection between unjust wars and pronouns. She says here that it felt like someone pulled out a pin from her head and the entire ideology fell apart in her mind in that instant.
