I thought that it was co-developed with the trans stuff due to Tumblr, some tumblrinas went trans, some went asexual and some went both.

I don't think it was created by drugs companies or anything. People who wanted to force themselves into the 'queer community' started identifying as asexual and making a big deal about how horny they aren't and how special that makes them. But they are now useful idiots, because their 'sexuality' can be used as an argument in civil cases that it's ok that people who were on puberty blockers too young can't orgasm ever. It's not a problem caused by the puberty blockers, it's just their natural and normal sexuality.

And it's such bullshit, I've seen young teenagers, especially girls, identify as asexual and be validated by adults as that. And it's fucking insane. Lots of my female friends were totally ambivalent about sex through their teen years and didn't really develop sexual desire until their early 20s and for some, when they did, it only came about in established relationships. They weren't a majority of my friends but they were a significant enough minority, that it's clearly just a perfectly normal subset of female sexuality. We really shouldn't be validating what may just be a normal developmental stage as a special identity. But the fact that we do, is very likely to save the medical industry quite a lot of money when the civil suits gather pace.
